Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

It is only +14.1K today in India... From about 1066K tests at 1.32%... The seven-day average went down another -552 to 16,906... A small portion of the drop is because of fewer tests during Dussehra and Durga Puja, but most of it is actual drops. I would assume that some missed cases will come out next week and so the daily drops may not be as much in the comind days. The deaths were only 146 today, and the seven-day average of that has now come down to around 225 too. Pretty good.

Thanks. Absolutely no document checking issues at Delhi airport. But, unlike last 8-10 times, they (customs) asked us to put every piece of luggage including hand bag through X-ray and it took almost an extra hour than I’ve gotten used to lately.

In Chennai, they scan it before it makes it to the belt and they have some markings on them so that customs can once again check it. Surprising that Customs is doing the scanning.

Yes, usually they depend on the airline staff to chec’ the rt-pcr, suvidha form etc. it will take too much time if they have to check this documents with attention.

Big States 17/10/2021 Sunday

KL - 7555 (from 73157 tests and a TPR of 10.4%) Kerala could/should a little more testing. I got to keep repeating this!
MZ - 948
WB - 624
OR - 443
AP - 432
KA - 326

Total - 10328 (MH + TN to come)

We might be going under 14K today. We had 19020 cases last Sunday. So expect a dip of 700 in the seven day average.

It is nice to see zeros in so many places. I think the whole state of Bihar had a zero the other day. I know they aren't catching some that are in the villages, but at least in the places they test (like about 100K people a day), they are finding no cases.

Meanwhile, India had +14.3K cases on Sunday, from about 1139K tests at 1.25%, and there were 165 deaths...The seven-day average fell by -675 to 15,679, but about -400 of it was from outside Kerala, so the numbers are dropping everywhere else too.

ICMR Update: 591,924,874 total tests... Sunday tests: 989,493... Lab count: 3000

Big States 18/10/2021 Meagre Monday

KL - 6676 (from 68668 tests and TPR of 9.7%)
WB - 690 (TPR of 3%)
OR - 340
MZ - 249 (TPR of 10.1%)
KA - 214

Total - 8169 (MH + TN + AP to come)

We will have around 12-13K cases today. We had 13184 cases last Monday. So we will see a drop of 100 in the seven day average. This slowdown in reduction is as Jay predicted. I expect some plateauing to happen.

Yeah, finally a good day after so many poor days. Maybe we will pick up some speed now, after the Dussehra and DurgaPuja slowdown. The Govt says there were 107M vaccine doses sitting with the states. No supply issues at all. We can do 10M a day for 15 days in a row with no problem if we want!

We had +12,347 today, from about 1103K tests at 1.12%, which bettered our previous best TPR on last Monday by a tiny hair... 164 deaths... The seven-day daily case average fell by -120 to 15,560. I think we may see drops only in the 100 to 300 range this week.

And vaccination is around 3.8 million (1.6 and 2.1). I would expect us to stay around that range for rest of the week until The big day.

Big States 19/10/2021 Tuesday

KL - 7643 (from 82408 tests and TPR < 10%)
MH - 1638
TN - 1179
MZ - 953 (TPR 9.8%)
WB - 726 (TPR 2.2%)
OR - 556
AP - 483
KA - 349

Looks like WHO is asking for more data for Covaxin approval.

https://www.reuters.com/business/health ... 021-10-18/
Organization on Monday asked for further data from India's Bharat Biotech to consider the company's request for an emergency-use listing for its COVID-19 shot, saying the WHO could not "cut corners" in making a decision.

^^^ Either WHO is run by China who wants to screw us, or Bharat Biotech is screwing up badly in giving them info they need. Probably more of the latter. Either way, this damn thing is such a fiasco. China wants to push their useless vaccine (that doesn't work) to everybody and India does nothing to help the world at this point either. Basically pretty disappointing.

By the way, what the hell is going on in Goa? 4 more deaths today, with 80 cases. They get 50 to 100 cases, but 3 or 4 deaths everyday. They are always at that Government Medical College there. And Goa is supposed to be 100% vaccinated too. What is the deal in Goa and at the GMC?

Update: India had a +14,927 today from 1261K tests at 1.18%... 199 deaths... The seven-day average fell by -156 to 15,403

--------------
ICMR Update: 59,44,29,890 total tests... Tuesday tests: 1,323,702 (tomorrow's case total will be on the high side).
