Re: Interesting thing I found....
From an article (Air ambulance makes emergency landing in Mumbai) today in The Hindu
Does that make any sense? Why go to Nagpur if you are going from WB to Hyderabad. If you took off from Nagpur, and the landing gear fell off, why not land there itself instead of going to Mumbai. And why go to Mumbai, if you were to go to Hyderbad? Haha... Anyway, apparently all passengers are safe!An air ambulance carrying a critical patient from Bagdogra in West Bengal to Hyderabad made an emergency landing in Mumbai on Thursday night after its landing gear fell during take off from Nagpur where it stopped for refuelling.

Perhaps making multiple stops to achieve economies of scale for a specialty destination?
Re: Interesting thing I found....
Do we have stats on how many people die due to various diseases every year in India in pre-Covid days? For example, how many due to just the flu? I’m trying to put these Covid death numbers in perspective. I know any preventable death is too many.

These have some data on deaths in India. A little dated but should give you an idea.
http://www.healthdata.org/india
https://www.censusindia.gov.in/vital_st ... death.html
Only now has REPORTED deaths from Covid-19 reached the Top 3 causes of daily deaths in India. Then again ALL causes are under reported.

Re: Interesting thing I found....
This is called excess mortality. During the lockdown, actually India had a negative excess mortality. That was because the mortality due to accidents were eliminated due to the lockdown. So, fewer people were dying during the lockdown, covid notwithstanding. Of course, now covid is back with a vengeance. Reminds me of Shakespeare's bloodiest play (arguably), Titus Andronicus.
Here is an article that does some good analysis. Excess mortality due to COVID-19
Go away Aaron/covid, go away.Vengeance is in my heart, death in my hand,
Blood and revenge are hammering in my head.
(Aaron, Act 2 Scene 3)
Here is an article that does some good analysis. Excess mortality due to COVID-19
Maybe a good mod can move this to the covid thread?Similarly, India, the country with the most recent severe wave of cases and deaths, is estimated to have an overall ratio of 2.96, which implies that the total COVID-19 death toll to date is much higher than what has been reported.

Wonder what happens if there is a double mutant variety of this. Pig Latin variant of Pidgin would be fatal.
