Book Recommendations
I found that some of the books suggested by our fellow forumites during the course of the year to be excellent reads. I just wanted to start this thread to get more such recommendations. Please recommend books on any topic that you found interesting (religion, sports, fiction, business, get rich, get smart quickly..etc )!
I'll start by recommending a book that I read recently (I mentioned one of them in some other thread recently)
1) The World is Flat by Thomas Friedman - talks about globalization and how the world is becoming flat (no barriers)
2) Roone - book on Roone Arledge - the legendary producer of ABC sports and later news who is credited with inventing the concept of slow motion replays and also monday night football (along with pete rozelle)

Well, whatever you do DO NOT read what we are reading in english class---Hunger of Memory-The Education of Richard Rodriguez.....jk...its probably an interesting topic for some, its just that I and nobody else in the class doesn't find it so!
The one we read before this was pretty good---Bread and Wine by Ignazio Silone.
I read three good books over the summer---Bollywood Boy by Justine Hardy, The Inscrutable Americans by Anurag Mathur and The Shadow Lines by Amitav Ghosh.

A few books that I recently read (and liked) are:
1) The Secret Man (The Story of Watergate's Deep Throat) by Bob Woodward
2) Freedom at Midnight by Larry Collins, Dominique Lapierre - about India's freedom struggle.
3) India's Nuclear Bomb: The Impact on Global Proliferation by George Perkovich - a bit biased at times, but a good read.
'The World is Flat' is also a good read, I liked it.

I am not an avid reader but got hooked on to Dan Brown's books and read all 4 of his.
Liked The Da Vinci Code & Angels and Demons
Deception Point was OK
Digital Fortress was not up to the mark - below average

Itz been years since I read Tintin!!! I used to fanaticallly read those at one time... I rejected many lending libraries if they didn't have Tintin or if the rates were exhorbiant (those days, the second clause had me rejecting all lending libraries)
