My sister-in-law had a classmate whose name was "Straight Line"...no kidding.
When I was in High School, there was a girl in town (she was there only for a year or two) and her name was "Disco".

I was pondering names like 'Autokaran' , 'billa', 'baatcha' (characters or names from Rajini's movie) for my son

Where did you go to school, varma? That must have been a math teacher who named his kid "Straight Line." Imagine if that kid was German - could have been "Straight Line Graf." And if they had named a sikh boy "Disco," then he could possibly be Disco Dan Singh!!Varma wrote: My sister-in-law had a classmate whose name was "Straight Line"...no kidding.

Re: Just for Fun
You want some weird names? Look at this link and some names therein. I was amazed to find that the NZ law has the provision to rule some names unacceptable.
Judge: Girl's name, Talula Does The Hula, won't do

Atithee,
This whole discussion started after Prasen posted about "Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii" a couple of days ago .
JIC,
"Straight Line" was my sister-in-law's classmate at Osmania Dental College in Hyderabad in late 90's .
As per Dan Singh's daughter "Disco", she briefly lived in my hometown Eluru (a coastal Andhra town). This was in mid 80's. IIRC, Dan Singh was a veterenarian.

Re: Just for Fun
Since you are from AP, Varma, wouldn't it be funny if somebody from the Reddy community names their kid "Ever?"Varma wrote: Atithee,

The women and beer bottles aside, I would have thought that these are pictures from India. Funny nonetheless.gbelday wrote: Some pretty funny pictures here...somebody at work sent me this..

Re: Just for Fun
Actually I fond it pretty sad. I found it sadder that we as a country picked that hellhole country as our "big brother partner" for decades and people like we grew up hearing how great Russia was!
I am reminded of all the stories I heard from Sunil Kumar about what all he went through, dealing with unbelievably corrupt rip-off artists in Russia, when he went to play tennis out there once. I also remember getting stuck inside the transit lounge at the Moscow airport a couple of years back for nearly a day, and how terrible and depressing the place was.

Re: Just for Fun
Umm! Jay, you and I are of the same generation. I don't ever recall growing up thinking that Russia is a great nation nor did my peers. All the admiration was reserved for the US and perhaps the only thing I/we admired Russia was for taking on the US as a superpower AND helping India (though I didn't know anything at all to understand either of the issue). I can't say conclusively that India would have been better aligned with the other big brother but it is possible.
