I think Haathi Mere Saathi was also the first movie which I saw in theaters. But, I was too small at that time . By the time I really started enjoying movies as a kid around 1975, Rajesh Khanna was past his prime & Amitabh Bachhan era had begun in bollywood.

But, of course saw most of the Rajesh Khanna movies later on tv - Anand, Aradhana,Amar Prem etc. They were all very good & he was lucky that he got great songs in all these films with voice of Kishore Kumar & music of R.D. Burman.

Unfortunately, it seems Rajesh Khanna could not quite take his fall from stardom well & thar led to his further downfall.

To her credit, Anju Mahendru was very much with Rajesh Khanna in the last few days alongwith Dimple.

agreed..Barfi is by far one of the best. Gangs of wasseypur was different genre all together. But Barfi is very refreshing. And in 8 days it has earned some 68 crores. So with 30-35 crores in producers pocket, its a great movie with and also a highly profitable one.

"Bhag Milkha bhag" is a gem of a movie. Perhaps a bit long & with lot of dramatisation. But, a must watch for all sports fans.

I did not know Milkha Singh's story so well before. My respect for him went up after watching that he had come thru so much of hardship.

I had an interesting conversation with my son yesterday about this movie. He remarked that they were making a movie about a guy who came fourth in the Olympics (didn't even win a medal). I asked him if he knew who Milkha Singh was and he said yes but he clearly did not appreciate the high level at which Milkha Singh was as an athlete. Maybe we should see the movie so that my son (and I) can learn a lot more about him.

Yes, but he remains the best athlete --- or at least male athlete --- we have ever produced. Ever. That's one-sixth of humanity over 100 years. Framed that way, he is remarkable. Sports success is a function of genetics, nutrition, facilities, systems, economic conditions, etc. If you consider the hand dealt to him, he did fantastically well. Maybe two billion people have been dealt a hand similar to his, and, none came even close to achieving what he did. I'm sure if your son reads a bit more of the context, he will understand.

Of course, I like to watch Indian Bollywood movies. My favorite is Sharukh khan and Hritik Roshan. Both are excellent.
My favorite movies are:
Devdas, Sirf Tum, No Entry and many more

To all members staying in Singapore

Tomorrow at 8 PM Channel News Asia as a part of their series "Undercover Asia" will feature a documentary called "Voices under the mango tree" Directed / Scripted by Mayurica, my wife. Its her first major work since she started her own company Storyteller Films.

It doesn't paint a good picture of our country but an honest one. Let me know how do you feel.

I am sharing a link of trailer.

Voices under the mango tree

Hope to hear from you

8 pm, Channel News Asia, Undercover Asia
