The case additions for Tuesday, August 2nd were: ANI 3, AP 297, ARP 75, ASM 0, BIH 180, CHD 101, CHG 595, DNHDD 0, DEL 1506, Goa 163, GUJ 874, HAR 623, HP 834, J&K 741, JH 137, KAR 1736, KER 1045, LDK 16, LKS 0, MP 164, MAH 1886, MNP 48, MEG 89, MIZ 337, NAG 10, ODI 741, PUD 119, PUN 486, RAJ 300, SKM 37, TN 1302, TEL 1054, TPR 178, UK 346, UP 579, WB 883

That sums up to +17,485 that lowers the weekly average of new daily cases by -166 to 18351... There were 35 deaths (5 each in MAH/RAJ, 4 WB, 3 CHG/DEL/UK, 2 HP/MNP/PUN, 1 each in CHD/HAR/J&K/ODI/PUD/UP)

Some places like Karnataka, Punjab, Delhi etc are getting multiple miniwaves. Though dropping nationally, the numbers aren't on a quick drop in many states. Kerala, Maharashtra, TN and WB have steadily dropped though.

It is great to see that India is holding straight or slightly decreasing whereas Sri lanka and Nepal have gone through the roof with 200-250% increase for Sri Lanka and 135% for Nepal or so in the last week/weeks.

I used to think that Sri Lanka was doing great (relatively speaking) developmentally, etc. but it seems the country has been taken to the cleaners by some corrupt kleptocrats. :-(

Yeah, after all the hype about all those countries who were doing great, in the end, it seems nobody did particularly well. Taiwan, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, this place, that place... In the end everybody got Covid. One crazy country who can shoot people for not listening to what the "ruler" says, decided to make their people suffer for ever from NOT getting Covid, and kept it away for the most part, after creating the virus. Otherwise, everybody did things reasonably well within their capabilities. India, in my opinion, did a little bit better than I thought we were capable of doing. Lots of deaths and absolute mayhem everywhere. It will take a long time for the wounds to heal, but we are slowly moving on from Covid, resigned to live with it and hoping for it to slowly die out in the long term rather than mutate and create more waves.

I still keep updating the numbers. My spreadsheet has now reached 850+ days, after I started putting daily numbers in it in March 2020. I will need to move on too, at some point :)

What is going on in Delhi yet again? Also, it looks like ODI gave a zero for today. They may report some 2000 or more on Wednesday, I guess.

The state-wise case additions for Sunday, Aug 7th were: ANI 2, AP 235, ARP 9, ASM 0, BIH 182, CHD 126, CHG 213, DNHDD 3, DEL 2423, Goa 94, GUJ 768, HAR 863, HP 193, J&K 708, JH 53, KAR 1837, KER 1143, LDK 21, LKS 0, MP 184, MAH 1812, MNP 20, MEG 42, MIZ 148, NAG 0, ODI 730, PUD 59, PUN 422, RAJ 600, SKM 93, TN 1057, TEL 396, TPR 74, UK 158, UP 978, WB 639

Assam keeps showing zero on some days. Not sure what is up. I don't know if the ministry adding some numbers to the cumulative totals (which are not exactly matching my total now - though the numbers are close)... Anyway, I think the data reporting is becoming a bit buggy these days.

The states' reports from Tuesday, August 9th were: ANI 2, AP 226, ARP 47, ASM 565, BIH 133, CHD 97, CHG 255, DNHDD 0, DEL 2495, Goa 174, GUJ 678, HAR 922, HP 360, J&K 626, JH 77, KAR 1608, KER 891, LDK 6, LKS 0, MP 112, MAH 1782, MNP 31, MEG 52, MIZ 243, NAG 8, ODI 487, PUD 105, PUN 402, RAJ 580, SKM 28, TN 941, TEL 494, TPR 75, UK 239, UP 942, WB 525

That yields a national figure of a +16,208, lowering our daily average by -182 to 17,638... There were 46 deaths (7 each in DEL/MAH/PUN, 5 WB, 3 HP, 2 in CHG/KAR/ODI/SKM/UK/UP, and 1 in GUJ/HAR/JH/MIZ/NAG)

The current wave is on a nice downswing in most states, except in the Delhi/UP/HP/HAR/RAJ/PUN belt to the north and northwest. Good to see Gujarat and Odisha joining TN, WB, KER, Telangana etc with notable drops in the wave. Karnataka and maybe J&K also, but let us wait a couple of days more on those two states. I am pretty sure that Bihar, MP, CHG, JH are just not testing and are massively under-reporting the numbers because of that, but I assume the waves have come and gone there too. The other notable (and nearly criminal) under-reporting is in the TN death numbers. They have still shown only less than 10 deaths in this whole wave. Come on, TN. You are better than that!
