Yeah, support it whole-heartedly .. At least we should give the girl some support, though the Indian press (save S.Kannan of HT) completely ignored what this girl did -- not an easy thing to pull two top-250 quality wins and an Archana double-bagel to make the main draw at Hyderabad.

OK, I will predict something. Ankita, if she holds her nerves in front of the big crowd on center court, will upset the 2nd seed Bartoli today.

Jay, I like your prediction and wishful thinking. In fact I would love it if that happens. But, it is very unlikely to happen. We are talking about top 60 players vs. Ankita.

My first goal for Ankita or any other Indian girl is to reach top 200 ranking and consistently beat top 200 players.

In the end ankita lost rather tamely 1-6, 1-6. But any how a terrific week for her. I wonder where she will be playing next?

Ankita will moved about 105 spots from 600 to just inside 500 .. No idea what she will do next. I had given up long back on predicting what she would do at anytime ..

Ankita..... hmm well she showed she is up there with the rest of the girls but unlike Sanaa who is now not playing because of too man tournaments on her schedule, Ankita probably has too few tournaments on hers.

The best expanation I can come up for her up and down performances and sporadic entries into events with is that Ankita is good but she is moody and really is not driven to play on the tour like her sister. Ofcourse this is only speculation on my part, but this is the only thing that makes sense to me. If that is the case then it is basically Isha and Sania and ofcourse now (or in the future) Neha and Shikha.

Hmm I wonder if we can get them before the Fed Cup.......

I won't even hazard a guess. She is one player whose schedule has never made any sense to me. But I love the way she has kept her development as a player going well, through her helter-skelter plans.

Congratulations to Indian FED CUP team and the coach for a splendid performance,notwithstanding their loss to THAILAND IN SEMI FINAL.The performance of the entire team was great and shows promise for the future.The star was,ofcourse,Ankita Bhambri.I always believed this girl has tremendous potential and has more talent and potential than any other Indian girl.The fact that her planning has no consistency can be explained by lack of funds.You can not plan anything unless you have financial support.The only Indian player that is getting full financial support,from everywhere is SANIA.From association,Andhra govt.GVK she is getting full support,not only for herself but also for accompanying parent and coach.Whereas players like Ankita,Isha and Megha are struggling to get finance even for themselves.If these girls get even 10% of the support Sania is getting,they would be right at the top.Mind you Sania was getting the support even before winning Wimbledon doubles,whereas other players have struggled in this matter.

By her splendid performance Ankita has shown that SHE HAS IT IN HER.SHE NEEDS FULL SUPPORT SO THAT SHE CAN PLAN HER SCHEDULE PROPERLY.

Interesting post, anilsingh. I would differ mainly on your choice of Pilots! Sania Mirza should surely be a pilot along with Karan. And Shikha rather than Neha is who you probably want as a pilot alongside Karan.

But this is an important year for Karan and Sania to show us that our hopes in them are justified. I think Karan needs to bulk up a bit (there was a photo of him in the latest India Today, and he looks rather scrawny!). And Sania needs to add good court sense to her power game. Let's see them do it!!
