Wow, a close match against a very good team. They are showing in no uncertain terms that they are ready for ATP-tour level doubles.

Excellent performance by these guys. They have outdone themselves and our expectations. We may see more grand slam performances from here.

Re: N.Sriram Balaji/ Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan Thread (Indian Express 2.1)
That victory takes them to the QF in Santiago. Balaji now at a career-high of 89 in doubles, Jeevan at 82 (still some way from his CH of 64). India's top 3 are Bopanna (15), Bhambri (73 CH), Myneni (74 =CH), then these two are 4th and 5th.
I think it's time to dub Bala-Jee Indian Express 2.1. By virtue of being together a bit longer, Yuki-Saketh are Indian Express 2.0

Excellent win for this pair who is getting these upsets quite regularly now on ATP tour which indicates that they are ready to move to this level.

Re: N.Sriram Balaji/ Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan Thread
BalaJee’s QF match is about to start. I don’t expect our pair facing any hiccup in beating this wildcard pairing (which surprisingly defeated challenger tour regulars Luis David Martinez & Fernando Romboli). Go, BalaJee!!

Pathetic! After winning the first set without much of a fuss, they just gave up. Bad leaves, pathetic play at the net, their opponents just had to return the ball back. Waste of an opportunity to move up.

Bizarre loss for Bala/G1..... There were two sequences of play, the first half dominated by our guys while the second half was dominated by their opponents...

Re: N.Sriram Balaji/ Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan Thread
Since Indian wells and Miami Masters allows many slots for top singles players to use their singles ranking for doubles entries, BalaJee won’t be able to play there this year.
There are a couple of challengers in Chile (first week in Santiago, 2nd week in Vina Del Mar) starting next week, however. Hope they choose to play there since they are already in Santiago.

Re: N.Sriram Balaji/ Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan Thread
I thought all tournaments allow singles players to enter doubles with their singles rankings. Perhaps more of them do here because the prize money is more significant and they are still playing 3 sets for singles at least for the men. Alternatively all the top singles players are at this tournament while in other that are split and many aren’t playing in a particular week.Dinesh wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 7:49 pm Since Indian wells and Miami Masters allows many slots for top singles players to use their singles ranking for doubles entries, BalaJee won’t be able to play there this year.
