Arjun won the title at Vietnam! Congrats! ... Starting the thread off

At $15K Vietnam F3 Futures, Thu Dau Mot City (Hard)

[R1] (8) Arjun KADHE (IND,758) d. (WC) Artem VU (VIE,NR) 61 64
[R2] (8) Arjun KADHE (IND,758) d. (Q) Arata ONOZAWA (JPN,1983) 75 62
[QF] (8) Arjun KADHE (IND,758) d. (2) Nam Hoang LY (VIE,522) 63 75
[SF] (8) Arjun KADHE (IND,758) d. Issei OKAMURA (JPN,1075) 61 61
[F] (8) Arjun KADHE (IND,758) d. (1) Andrew HARRIS (AUS,494) 75 63

The win gives him 18 points to add to 25 he now has. Enough to move him to around #620 in the Dec 4th rank list. Pretty quick move up the ranks in a 4 month period since he left US colleges and started on the tour. It was his second final, following the runner-up finish at the India F9 at Coimbatore in late September.

He beat the top 2 seeds in straight sets to earn this title a hard way. Great start to the pro career after college stint. He has started out better than I thought he would in singles based on his college results. He was very good in doubles in college tennis but only had moderate success in singles.

Yes, terrific to see he lifted his first Futures title and sailing towards around top-500 (may be before this year end) ... C'mon Arjun.

I met this guy in 2011 or 2012 not sure exactly but it was when he came for juniors at US Open. I was walking around and he saw me wearing an Indian blue jersey and he got curious and asked me “so who’s playing today among Indians?” That was probabaly his innocence that he spotted an Indian and wanted to talk. He seemed like a hard working and shy kid then. I hope he is progressing well. I would love to see him at the US Opem again playing qualies at least.

Good to see an Arjun Kadhe thread, which he has fully earned by winning a Futures title outside India.

But, so unfortunate that he lost 76 67 67 today, albeit against a top-400 player... It is tough in a second week after winning a title, especially if you have to play a three hour barnburner.

Very true Jay and I think, he mostly missed a match point in this match.

Yes, when I saw the scores once Arjun lead 6-4 in second set tie break and had 2 match points.

Arjun is ranked at a career high of 613 this week and just 1 spot behind Saketh and both are just outside India top 10.

This week he and Aryan are playing in Egypt. They met each other in first round and Arjun won easily.

At $15K Egypt F37 Futures, Clay, Cairo

[R1] (8) Arjun KADHE (IND,613) d. Aryan GOVEAS (IND,759) 61 60

Next,

[R2] (8) Arjun KADHE (IND,613) vs. Alexander WEIS (ITA,1147)

More and more evidences that Arjun is easily playing at at least a top-400 level.

Not sure what happened to Arjun today after after a quick start.

[R2] (8) Arjun KADHE (IND,613) l. Alexander WEIS (ITA,1147) 61 36 67(8)

That is a bad loss, really. Arjun and Aryan won the doubles QF in a 10-8 match tiebreaker, so he is probably not injured...

This has been a bad week for us in $15K futures in Solapur and Egypt. 14 players were in the main draws with two low seeds too, and only one player managed to even reach the QF.

Arjun needs to win these type of matches for showing consistency with his performance ... I feel, his level of performance around top-500 level.
