Re: Top Indian Tennis Stars for the week
Weak field or not, Sania won a WTA doubles title this past week.
So, I would have picked:
1) Yuki Bhambri (for beating #40 Vesely)
2) Sania Mirza (Guangzhou doubles title)
3) Sanam Singh (beating Dancevic and winning a $15K Futures in north America)
4) Ramkumar Ramanathan (beating phenom Ymer).
5) Sumit Nagal (winning another Futures title at age 18)

Re: Top Indian Tennis Stars for the week
This has been excellent week for Indian tennis with success all around.
However, since one has to pick only three, I would pick-
1. Yuki
2. RamKumar
3. Sanam

Re: Top Indian Tennis Stars for the week
This is sort of a pointless thread (my opinion).
Maybe we can start a thread titled "Where are our players playing this week"? Or would that be better served by a community-edited Wiki. We can then list in one place where everyone is playing every week and then just update the results for each person (maybe giving the score of the last match). Would there be interest in co-maintaining that? Is there something like this already? Currently, I have to wade through several threads or go back several pages and glean that information out. On busy weeks, that is hard. So, a basic schedule and results page could be useful. Comments are welcome.
[BTW, this thread can continue on its own with people who like it. I wanted to see if there is interest in a page such as one outlined above.]

Yes i'm interested and I do agree that this polling is not much of use or interest. I would like to do the regular score updates for every week on a regular basis. As u mentioned , putting them all under one thread is easy to read instead of going thru multiple threads.

Yes, let this thread continue for those who are interested. If the interest is not much, it will automatically die down. But, initially it seems to be going well.
I also like the idea of one thread summarising schedule and results for the week. However, that thread has to be a sticky which cannot be edited by everyone. No discussion should be there in that thread. Else, it will be too confusing. There has to be one person responsible to update that thread. Question is who will take the responsibility of maintaining that thread and ensures that it is updated promptly ? It is not an easy thing to do.

Re: Top Indian Tennis Stars for the week
Which is why I suggested a Wiki. We can create a Wiki entry and then we can give edit permissions to whoever is interested and we think will be responsible. In general, Wikipedia works. We may have to edit out garbage but if we all pool together to do it we can.
I created a stub like this: Stub
We can then have a sticky article that links to this Wiki entry after it is done and I have moved it to Wikipedia Main.
If there are no better ideas, then I will put some information in and try to create a Main article tomorrow.

We can have 3 headings with tables in each.Previous Tournament,Current Tournament,UpcomingTournament.
Awesome Stub prasen. We can work on it to make an excellent page.

Re: Top Indian Tennis Stars for the week
I think this thread is of no mean as atp ranking explains everything. I want to add an suggestion ther is simple calculation on best player of the week on the basis of rating points gained. we can show rating points with players. we can keep doubles as different as best singles and best doubles player of the week as there is no comparison on rating points. if we want to add them together then there is only based on prize money they get. thats why people choose to play singles prefrably. when they found they are not good enoigh in singles then they choose doubles.

As someone said before the thread will die a natural death of no one is interested. Till then avoid it if you wish to.

Re: Top Indian Tennis Stars for the week
How will you combine women and men as this is about top 3 performers for India ? And how about difference in quality of competition for the same level events ?kapilgoyal414 wrote:I think this thread is of no mean as atp ranking explains everything. This thread is about opinion of individuals and therefore, no objective criteria can be set for the same.
For this week, I will go with Saketh, Sania and Divij. Hardly anyone played other that that.
