As per update on Nensel Tennis Academy FB page, Somdev is there as a coach along with Karman and a few other players from their acedemy.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Karman and Salma are all even at 67(3) 76(5) 00 after 2 hours and 40 minutes of a slugfest. There were 8 breaks in the first set! But Karman couldn't do much in the TB... She served for the second set, up a break, but got broken back, and it was a TB again... Karman was up a minibreak and serving 2 at 5-4, lost a point, got a set pt, and converted it on Salma's serve

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
the level of competition you get in these earlier rounds of a frigging $15K tournament. She really should’ve capitalized on the weak Indian ITFs. I do hope she enters the 2 W25 events in Jhajjar. Sunday Iyer mentioned that this city has a potential to become a Shark-El-Sheikh of India due to its resort style infrastructure.

Probably an indication that she is not playing at any better a level than top-500 right now. Need to get back into proper form. She couldn't seem to serve and hold points at crunch moments many times in this match. Work on the service games. She has a good serve, and should be doing much better than she does with it.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
That is an interesting Iyer. Does he only become an Iyer on Sundays? (I'm trying to mimic Prasen )

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
True. She fought really hard. But, she should really be required to fight so much against the player ranked this low. Karman has a PR of 208 which she has not been using in these tournaments.jayakris wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 5:06 pm

Shows how much player can go struggle coming back from a longish break. And that is why it was good to see Yuki get back to the level he played in Dubai.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
This week, KKT might have an easier opening round. She’s playing the 3rd seed Mallaurie Noel, who is ranked 502 in singles and is currently on a 5-match losing streak (R1 exits). Hopefully, she will go the distance here.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Yikes. That means she is more due for a good match and for luck to turn her way, than is Karman!

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Karman's scheduling looks bizarre to me. Earlier, she skipped the home ITFs to play lower level events in Tunisia to stay close to her training camp, and now she has withdrawn from the $60K ITF in Switzerland that’s supposed to start on the week of April 4th especially after she easily made the main draw with her protected ranking. So, she’s going to go to Latvia without any match play in April.
