Karman Kaur Thandi welcomes idea of India hosting a WTA tour event in 2022
The 23-year-old, who last played in Glasgow in mid-February, was slated to be part of the Indian team in the Billie Jean King Cup Asia-Oceania competition for the World Group play-off, but missed out owing to a wrist injury. But Karman revealed that her recovery is right on track and is expected to return to competition later this month.

"Yes it is getting better and is almost good now. And I will start competing at the end of this month, so everything is in place." she said.

Karman is in the US and will be participating in the W60 ITF event next week in Lexington (KY). She’s currently #12 in the qualifying list and will most likely need to win 2 matches for a main draw berth. :goodluck:

At ITF W60, Lexington, USA

[R2] Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,382) d. (WC) Aldila Sutjiadi (INA,464) 75 50

I started watching late in the first set when it was 5-5 after they had traded a break. Karman had to save some 4 BPs to hold serve there, but then broke Aldilla to take the set. She served big there - aces and service winners. Soon after that it was a total no-context as Sutjila pretty much gave up against Karman's big game. The QF will be against a USA qualifier - either Peyton Stearns or Adriana Reami. The former had upset the 4th seed in R1.

^^^^Peyton is a UT alum and NCAA champ! That’s for you, Jay if you didn’t know. She’s down a set to Adriana (NC State Wolfpack).

^^ Of course, I know... Peyton is very good, but college and pro are miles apart in women's tennis, so it might not mean much!

EDIT: Yes, it was Peyton who upset the 4th seed. I had mistyped. Corrected above!

^^^^LOL. I edited my post pointing out the typo as you were correcting yours thinking I didn’t read your original post right. Peyton is ahead in the second set.

Peyton’s brother Preston has committed to tennis powerhouse Ohio State.(Buckeyes). He’s close to top 100 ITF in juniors.

She’s up 5-4 in the 3rd set. Serving for the match!

Edit: looks like play is suspended for the day.
