Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Last week, Karman Kaur defeated Ellen Allgurin (SWE, 419) 61 60 to qualify into the main draw of the $25K in Mumbai, this week she has beaten Daiana Negreanu (ROM, 471) to qualify into the main draw of the $25K tournament in Pune. Karman Kaur Thandi is clearly the real thing!!

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Karman(ranked 145 ATM) is in the entry list of "International Spring Championships ,USA" Grade 1 event which is scheduled for the week of March 30.
I presume after this she will be back to India to play the "Asian Closed Junior Championships 2015" which is on April second week.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
And Karman won her first Grade 1 title when she won the ITF juniors at Offenbach, Germany on clay today and became most probably the first Indian girl to win a grade 1 junior title in red clay in Europe.
Karman was defending 40 points from her grade 4 title in same week last year in Indonesia. So, with 150 points from this title, she will add 110 points to her total and will go inside top 100 for the first time at around 85.
More importantly, her confidence will be sky high now after this title. Unfortunately, this will be too late for her to gain entry into Wimbledon draw. She continues on clay in Europe for next 3 weeks playing in Allianz Kunder Grade 1 next week in Germany, IGAT grade 2 also in Germany and Dutch junior grade 2.
A good performance in these 3 tournaments can further boost her ranking inside top 60 which will give her a chance to make the main draw at US open.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Karman has gone inside top 100 and is ranked at 89 this week.
But, she could not continue her good run and lost in first round this week.
At Allianz Kundler German Juniors, Grade 1
[R1] Karman Kaur THANDI (IND,89) l. (16) Karola Patricia BEJENARU (ROU,101) 57 46
A bit of comedown after last week's high.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
It's her birthday today .
Not the best way to celebrate but last week's girls and career high ranking tops it all.
Wishing her a great year ahead

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Yes, it turned out to be tough.
At IGTA Junior Cup, Germany (Clay)- Grade 2
[R2] (5) Karman Kaur THANDI (IND,89) l. Meghan KELLEY (USA,144) 57 46
After a great title run, couple of bad weeks for Karman.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Just an analysis, Karman has been liking some women's tennis pages of US colleges in Facebook. Now that she is done with her Class XII , she might be trying for College tennis ?

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
That may be not be such good news for Indian tennis. There is not much history of women players going to college tennis and coming back strongly in pros. Certainly none from India so far although Rutuja Bhosale is someone who has gone there recently and we will have to see if she does come back fully on pro tour and if she does well.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
At TC Bakkum Dutch Junior Open 2015, Netherlands, Grade 2 (Clay)
[R1] (1) Karman Kaur THANDI (IND,86) l. (Q) Sandra BOZINOVIC (FRA,377) 06 46
That is a pretty bad loss for Karman. After that 1 week of success, her form seems to have dipped considerably.
