Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
And former top-20 Kleybanova proved too strong to Karman as she managed to win only 4 games.
At $25K ITF Womens Tournament 2017, Lubbock, Texas, USA
[R2] (2) Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,315) vs Alisa Kleybanova (RUS,628) 26 26

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
She needs to play 15K. She has not won a single 15K title. She has not passed that level. First pass that and then jump to higher level. She is over ranked. She collected some cheap points from weak Asian tourneys and that's why she is eligible to play those higher events which she doesn't belong to.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
She has reached at least QF in 6 of the 10 $25K tournaments she has played this year, reached SF in 4 of those. That shows that she clearly belongs to this level. No need to go down and play at 15K level just for the sake of a title when she is good enough at this level.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
The best way to improve is to play against harder opposition. If she has the rank, she should play the harder tournaments and try to improve.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Kleybanova went on to win the title beating last week's champion Robinson in QF 75 64 and third seed Victoria Duval 62 60 in final. So, Karman lost to the eventual champion in both the weeks.
She finished the doubles runner up this week -

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
ITF $25K event in Stillwater, Oklahoma
[R1] Karman Kaur Thandi (IND, 315) Vs Katie Swan (GBR, 362)
18-year old Katie was a Jr WR #2 and had reached Aus Open Jr finals in the past. She has already won 2 futures titles this year. So another tough for Karman but I fancy Karman's chances in this match - should hopefully make it.

I know the result. If Karman wins the 1st set then this will go to the 3rd set.

You didn't call it a loss. Are you becoming soft these days?Saniapower wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2017 6:48 pmI know the result. If Karman wins the 1st set then this will go to the 3rd set.
Well, she has won the first set 6-0...
Second set tight/even, just as expected. Held tough saving 2 BPs in the 7th game. Was up 40-15 in game 9 but lost 4 of the next 5 points to drop serve. 60 46 and going to the third set. Saniapower comes through once again

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
I hope she proves me wrong But lost the 2nd and we are now into the 3rd She's definitely having some serious issues with her game right now, she needs to sit with her coach and discuss.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Yes, every now and then I would get the feeling that she has some issues with mental focus during the matches, or something like that. She would suddenly run into trouble just when we think she has a match under control. Anyway, she is up a break again, facing serve at 4-1 in the third set.
EDIT: She won it with a timely break again in the third set in game 8.

[R2] Karman Kaur Thandi (IND, 315) vs (6)Cristiana Ferrando (ITA, 283)
Cristiana has won a challenger title this year already and will be another tough opponent for Karman. Hope she can clear this hurdle.
