A bit disappointing after the big run last week. The Chinese seem to have sorted her out in last 2 matches after she beat 2 of the higher ranked Chinese in the earlier matches.

She will be off to Thailand next week for $25K challenger there.

Karman's opponent Yifan Wang went on to win title at Tianjin.

Anyway, Karman breaks into top 350 and is now at a new career high of 349 in WTA singles ranking. With no points to defend till end September she can keep moving up.

She will be playing 3 25k events in USA this month. Starting with 25K Redding CA.
Karman Kaur THANDI (IND) [5] Vs Salma EWING (USA) (WC).

Should win this one easily. :goodluck:

These couple of weeks there are bigger challengers in USA apart from these 25K ones which Karman is participating. So, draws here are somewhat weaker compared to usual 25K ones in US. Good to see Karman taking advantage of those to first of all justify her seeding position. Now, needs to do more.

She has also made the doubles SF with an upset of top seeds in the QF.

[R1] Sandra SAMIR (EGY) / Karman Kaur THANDI (IND) 6-2 6-3 Kana DANIEL (JPN) / Nika KUKHARCHUK (RUS)
[QF] Sandra SAMIR (EGY) / Karman Kaur THANDI (IND) 6-2 6-3 Ulrikke EIKERI (NOR) / Caitlin WHORISKEY (USA) [1]

Will you ever stop? Karman just won the first set 7-6. Robin Anderson has had so many good wins this year. To me, this set itself is a good indicator of success for Karman considering she is new to the USTA circuit.

Former top-200 Anderson proved a strong player for Karman ... Karman won the first set in a tight tie-break but afterward, Anderson gave a solid performance.

At $25K ITF Women's Tournament 2017, Redding, California, USA

[QF] (5) Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,324) l Robin Anderson (USA,369) 76(6) 16 36

No, he will not stop, because he gets proven right a very solid majority of times. I too want to kill him when he disses our players, but then reality bites me before I can kill saniapower :)

Karman, ranked 321 is the second seed this week at the $25,000 Lubbock(Texas) ITF Challenger as there are 2 big tournaments one each in Mexico ($100K+H) and Albuquerque($80K).

She is slated to face Anderson again if both of them win their first 2 matches. Robin Anderson went on to win the title last week with ease. Can she be tired this week?

At $25,000 Lubbock, TX

Thaisa Grana PEDRETTI (BRA,743) versus [2] Karman Kaur THANDI (321)

The Brazilian is a current top-40 junior in her final year. Should be an easy match :goodluck:

Fun fact : Anderson might run into 40 y.o. veteran Lindsay Lee-Waters that has once had a singles ranking of 43 in the WTA circuit. Stop her, Lindsay.

Karman with an easy win in first round.

At $25K ITF Women, Lubbock,Texas

[R1] (2) Karman Kaur THANDI (IND,321) d. Thaisa Grana PEDRETTI (BRA,743) 62 61

Next one will be tough.

[R2] (2) Karman Kaur THANDI (IND,321) vs. Alisa KLEYBANOVA (RUS,628)

Kleybanova is a former top 20 player. She seems to be making a comeback after 2-3 years break and does not seem to be playing at that level now. Hope Karman will take care of her.

Kleybanova was Sania's partner when they won Wimbledon Junior Girl's Doubles crown way back in 2003. She was later diagnosed with some form of cancer and had to take a longer break to take care of that. Even though she made it back to the top-100 in the following years, she hasn't been able to hang in there consistently (nor could she play a full schedule). No matter how low her current ranking is, she will certainly be a huge threat to Karman's chances.
