No luck for Kanika. She again lost in the SF.

At $15K ITF Women's Tennis Tournament 2017, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt

[SF] Kanika Vaidya (IND, 898) l. Arlinda Rushiti (SUI,898) 46 67(3)

Still, these back to back semi finals will help lift Kanika's confidence and hope she will get better and better now.

How come both of them have the same ranking?

Whew! I finally got through. Now I can finally log in.
I also posted one reply with my temporary account. Still it must be waiting for moderator's approval.

How come their rankings are the same?

Maybe same number of points in same number of tournaments. For people of low ranks, maybe they played fewer tournaments or got points from fewer tournaments. So the likelihood of them having the same number of points is higher?

Yes, Kanika and Rushiti ( as also 1 more player) have 13 points from 6 tournaments. This occurence become more and more common as we go down in the rankings. There are some 80 or so players ranked 1211 which is the lowest WTA ranking.

In the second round, Kanika scored a superb upset win against top seed and top-450 Russian player, Anastasia Pribylova ... After losing the first set, she made a strong comeback for winning next two sets easily.

Excellent upset of the 21 year old top seed, who has a career high ranking of 351 from two years ago.

Appears that Kanika is based with the Paris region based Smash It Tennis Center: https://www.smashittenniscenter.com/. You can see pictures of Kanika with her Coach on the bottom-half of the home page.

Kanika starts this week with a win in both Singles and Doubles.

$15K, Sharm El Sheikh, EGY

R1 Kanika VAIDYA (IND,833) 6-4 6-2 Caroline ILOWSKA (AUT,NR)
R1 Emilie FRANCATI (DEN) / Kanika VAIDYA (IND) [2] 4-6 6-3 [10-8] Daniela Macarena LOPEZ (CHI) / Maria PATRASCU (CAN)

Up next:
R2 Kanika VAIDYA (IND,833) vs [5] SHOSHYNA, Anastasiya (UKR,566) - Tough one

I hope that she wins a singles title sometime to justify the thread that we opened 3 years ago.

Wow! Kanika keeps impressing us with the continuing upset wins. She just defeated the 5th seed to move into QF

[R2] Kanika VAIDYA (IND,833) 6-4 7-5 [5] SHOSHYNA, Anastasiya (UKR,566)

[QF] Kanika VAIDYA (833) vs [1] Anastasia PRIBLYOVA (RUS,435)

Kanika beat the Russian last week in 3 sets in the second round. Hope she repeats that win. :goodluck:
