Some really good wins from Kanika in recent weeks will soon take her to a career-high ranking.
But she needs to win a singles title here soon (why not this week?) if she is to forge ahead and realise the full value of these big upset wins.

It looks like end of this swing for Kanika. In 5 weeks here in Egypt, she went R2,SF,SF,QF,QF . Quite consistent but could not win the key matches in the later stages of the tournaments. She will move up close to 750 in the WTA rankings. I think she is a better player than that ranking- beat players ranked 529,607, 566 and 437 in this stint. I guess she is just getting back to full fitness after not having much early success on pro tour after college stint due to injuries.

Per social media looks like she is finishing her MBA at Cornell University. Not sure what her tennis plans are (if any)...

After an MBA at Cornell, I have to think that she won't be too much into tennis... All the best to the young lady, and it would be nice to see her on court again.

Yes, it seems unlikely that she will return to a pro tennis career. Her dad (a doctor and MBA, who had a very successful career as an investment banker but was also a good sportsman) quit to follow her on the tennis circuit, in the hope that her talented sister too would pursue tennis. (Her mother, a "head-hunter", executive search specialist, continued her own career though). But both sisters never gave up their academics while playing tennis (they were studying through video and the equivalent of Zoom long before that method of education became the thing over the past year). So Kanika went to Columbia and her sister (who the dad used to say was more talented at tennis, but less dedicated/focused than Kanika) went to UPenn. Neither seems likely to really pursue a pro tennis career now.
