Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread
Prajnesh pulled out of the Indonesia futures so needs to make a run to the finals here to have an AO qualifying shot.

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread
Even Sumit pulled out. So they maybe going back to Germany for off-season training.

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread
A bit strange particularly for Prajnesh to pull of those futures which could have given him a chance to get into AO qualies spot if he wins 1-2 more matches this week.
For Sumit, there is no chance anyway to get into AO qualies. So, it is fair for him take a break although he would be falling outside top 350 if he does not play anywhere till end of the year.

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread
And he seems to be in pretty good nick too , as he has breezed through the first set 6-3 against his korean opponent
so why would he need to train when he can garner and consolidate the points with the good form he is in now

Prajnesh is tied at one set all after being a set and a break up. Hope he can take the deciding set.

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread
Prajnesh dodged a bullet saving 2BPs (one with an ace) in the second game. He is now up 2-0 in the decider.
Wins easily at the end 6-1 in the decider. Kwon had a lot of trouble landing his first serve.

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread
Yes stamps his authority swamping the Korean 6-1 in the final set and next up is the 4th seed A. Nedovyesov against whom he will have a fair even chance considering the way he took out Golu.

Yes, good to see him regain control after a brief hiccup in the second set.

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread
Splendid win for Prajnesh over yet another Korean 18-year-old star, albeit one who is ranked almost exactly level with him (and who got there, like him, by dominating home Futures and beginning to make a mark at the Challenger level across Asia). Very pleasing indeed!

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread
Nedo proved too strong for Prajnesh.
At $50K(+H) Astana Challenger, Kazakhstan
[QF] Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,291) l. (4) Alexander Nedovyesov (KAZ,189) 26 36
So, that ends Prajnesh's hopes of making the Australian open qualifying draw.
It looks like he will make the last ditch effort to make the main draw by playing the wild card play off next week.

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread
Prajnesh is at a new career high ranking of 284 this week. But, he has 30 points falling off still this year. So, if he is not playing anywhere this year after this week's AO WC play off, he will fall to around 325-330 in the year end rankings.

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread
Prajnesh got a chance to play in IPTL today against Marcus Baghdatis. He put up a good show losing only in super tie break. Watched a few games of that and his serve and forehand were very good. He seems to have gained a lot in confidence after that close loss against Istomin last week.
I think he should make a big move up the rankings next year.
