Prajnesh lost in third set.

At Nur-Sultan Challenger 100, Kazakhstan

[SF] (4) Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,138) l. (6) Jurij Rodionov (AUT,152) 26 63 36

Another high quality match. Just a different kind of match for Prajnesh than against Klizan. Rodionov played from far back from baseline and that netralised Prajnesh's big serving and big hitting. Prajnesh tried to change up the things a bit by getting into rallying mode but Rodionov was playing really well today.

Good first week for Praj. Second week’s draw is out and is a joke since we will be seeing a repeat of Praj - Jurij again, this time in the first round itself. The Austrian will be vying for the title here facing Mackenzie McD today.

Yes, what is happening with Indian players these days. Sumit drew the same player in 2 consecutive week in Australia and now Prajnesh getting the same here in Kazakhstan. Hope Prajnesh and his coaches find some chinks in Jurij's game after yesterday's match.

Since RamK is also playing here and Bala is in the qualies opening a thread for this tournament.

Too bad, this was a game he should have won. The final would have been very tough though.

Yes.

Mackenzie McDonald trashed Rodionov 61 62 in the final. Another uncanny prediction, Sanjay.

Pretty bad times. Even a radio's knob is winning against our players these days. :-(

Thank you Sir! :-)
Though I would have preferred our man PG in the final regardless of the score in it.
On the positive side, he seems to be getting back to form, like Sumit.

Prajnesh has got into qualifying draw of next week's Doha ATP 250. However, he has made it to QF of this week's Nur-Sultan Challenger in Kazakhstan which will be played on Friday. So, if he wins and that makes it to SF, he will surely cannot play there. But, even otherwise I am not sure if he can play in Kazakhstan on Friday, travel to Doha and play qualies there on Saturday. Looks difficult in these covid times.

RamK is 3 out from qualies draw there.

As Prajnesh moved thru to the semi finals at Nur-Sultan 125 Challenger, his name was scratched from qualifying entry list for Doha ATP. RamK will be in the qualies draw.

Main draw wild cards are not announced yet. So, still hopeful they will give one wild card to one of the Indians- either Prajnesh or Yuki.

Prajnesh has moved into the qualifying draw at Dubai ATP 500. Yuki too is in the qualies draw and RamK is 11 out from qualies. Hope all 3 of them will get to play there.

After that for couple of weeks, Prajnesh has not entered anywhere. Probably taking a training break before clay season. It seems no Indians are playing in Miami this year. Only 1 week without IW may be precluding many players from travelling out there just for 1 tournament.

Good news on getting in at the Dubai ATP. Both of our players are assured of getting at least $4,000 for playing the first round qualifying match.

Also after Dubai, Prajnesh might have entered Marbella or Calgiari ATP 250 tournaments and we will know once the qualifying entry list is released.

He is in the entry list of Orlando challenger in the week starting April 12, about the only hard court challenger in April. Probably will stay on for Tallahassee challenger on green clay the week after. But, as of now looks like 3-4 weeks of training break for him.

Yes, Prajnesh is featured in the Tallahassee CH, as well. Currently, he is the 4th highest-ranked player in the main draw after Steve Johnson, Denis Kudla, and Thiago Seyboth Wild.
