Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread
a very disappointing loss for Pragnesh 3-6 , 6-7 against his French opponent
just one break of serve got his opponent the opening set , The second set belonged to Pragnesh , was playing solid tennis and had the Frenchmen always under pressure and after breaking him was serving for the second set and even had couple of set points but sadly got broken , and than it was one way and in the tie break got swamped , was expecting a good decent run here and it now makes the AO quali spot more elusive

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread
Yes, disappointing that after one excellent week, Prajnesh could not build on that and lost in first round in next 2 weeks. It was understandable last week due to jetlag. But, today's was a bad loss. A kind of match he should be winning if he has to make further progress up the ladder.

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread
I wouldn't worry too much about this loss. He has to get used to the travel & play model that comes with being in the top-300. It will come in due course; we cannot expect him to magically be playing at a higher level.

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread
Prajnesh is playing in Astana challenger this week. Sasi is also playing there.
At $50K(+H) Astana Challenger, Kazakhstan
[R1] Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,291) vs. (8) Andrey Golubev (KAZ,232)
[R1] Sasi Kumar Mukund (IND,533) vs. Sanjar Fayziev (UZB,384)
Tough matches for both. Surprised that Golubev has fallen so much in the rankings. He was a top 50 player once.

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread
I presume the matches will be indoors
Astana is going thorough an unprecedented cold spell , it is dreadful -27 Degrees.
Even indoors too how will the players manage to play in such conditions

It's -22 degrees there now. I don't know how these guys are playing out there.

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread
Very nice upset win for Prajnesh!!
Beating a seeded local is all the more impressive. That he beat a former world #33 (who is still only 29, so certainly not yet over the hill) is the icing on the cake. (Golubev beat Stan Wawrinka in a Davis Cup match in Geneva just two years ago!).

Yes, excellent win by Prajnesh.
At $50K(+H) Astana Challenger, Kazakhstan
[R2] Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,291) vs. Soon Woo Kwon (KOR,293)
Match against similar ranked player.
Aren't they playing indoors ? I just had bit of a peak at Sasi and Prajnesh's matches today, not getting time to watch more than 5-10 mins each. It did seem that they were playing indoors.vatsal323 wrote:It's -22 degrees there now. I don't know how these guys are playing out there.

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread
Nice win by Prajnesh!
Playing indoors should not be any problem as the sports stadium, hotel, cars etc. are likely all heated and he will be spending very little time outdoors. On the other hand, I recall skiing in 5-10 deg F in Canada a few years ago and that is the coldest I've ever felt even with wearing great cold weather gear (and skiing is a very active sport)....
