Well sameer clearly specified atp tour in his comment and women don't play there so a bit unnecessary social justicing in my opinion.

..
Of course most of them have gone on to win multiple matches at ATP level ( except Karan I think).
Bops??
Saketh? And change it to male player please. Quite a few women have won main draw matches on the WTA tour.
Saketh never had a win. Well, actually he did win the match, a top-50 win at a grand slam too, to boot, at the US Open R1 in 2016, before the ump took it away from him. But officially he has no ATP tour wins.

It is misleading to say 2000. If I am not mistaken, we have had only the same 8 people in almost 25 years, to have won a round in an ATP. That is since 1993 July 5th when Ramesh Krishnan won his last match - R1 at Gstaad ATP against Pioline.
arjun2761 wrote: Wed Jun 13, 2018 8:11 pmIf we go back to 1993, you have to add Mahesh Bhupathi, so that would make it 9.
Oh, I thought MB was in the list already. Yes, it is 9 guys in 25 years since RK who had a main draw win.

By the way, is Prajnesh the best all-surface guy we have had in the modern era of about 25-30 years, since RK's fall?

Prajnesh is our best clay-cum-grass guy for a long time. Not sure yet how good he is on hard courts, since he hasn't really done as much on them (apart from the epic win at Tianjin).

He might turn up for qualies at Halle or Queens and try his luck for the cut to drop.

But the most logical thing to do , would be to sign up for Ilkley qualies , Just like we saw in Surbiton where players ranked as high in their 60's & 70's played the qualies since they had missed out the signing deadline for the MD

Yes, Prajnesh has confirmed he is going to Ilkley next.
He is also working on and feels confident about his volleys, but is just not used to coming to the net under pressure. But he’s working on foraying to the net more often. Smart guy!

I wouldn't extrapolate from Stuttgart where he was playing like a baseliner.

Prajnesh is at a new career high of 152 now. He has already moved up close to 100 spots from the start of the year. If he can avoid injuries he may be on track on getting to top 100 by end of the year.

I think he's decent enough on hard courts. He's made a Challenger final on the surface(Pune 2016), beating the likes of Duckhee Lee, etc. Both Ram and Praj are all-surface players in my opinion. Yuki obviously being weak on clay, and Sumit being vulnerable on grass.

Prajnesh is in the Q-draw of Chengdu Open ATP.

QR1 [7] Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,162) vs [WC] Zihao Xia (CHN,512)

Zihao has upset Go Soeda, Ze Zhang, Di WU in the past few weeks, but I hope Prajnesh will get the job done comfortably. :goodluck:

He does come thru in straight sets.

At $ 1.07M Chengdu Open, China (ATP 250)

[Q1] (7) Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,162) d. (WC) Zihao Xia (CHN,512) 62 75

Next,

[Q2] (7) Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,162) vs. Hiroki Moriya (JPN,187)

Moriya upset top seed Jason Kubler in Q1.

With his Ningbo challenger runner up points updated, Prajnesh moves up inside top 150 for the first time in his career, being ranked at a career high of 146 this week.

He has 57 points to defend for rest of the year and only 12 in first quarter of next year. So, if he keeps up this form he can make a big surge towards top 100.

Gratified to see Prajnesh move up closer to 100. Looks like from an earlier comment, he is working on improving his volleys. That's great that he knows he needs to work on this. I noticed in his last few matches that he would dominate on the ground, great consistency moving his opponent around but the finishing part was missing - increasingly he would have to hit low percentage attack shots to close out the point - this would be a lot easier and less risky if he could sneak in at the strategic moment and put away the final volleys, as Nadal does so successfully. Easy to talk about in an armchair watching on TV, but one of the toughest tactics to implement. If Prajnesh can improve in this area it will be very helpful for him. Most of the top 150 players I have seen have this important tactic worked out pretty well.
