And she went on to win the double title.

At Metropolia Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship - Grade A(Clay)

[F] (5) Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND) / Tamara ZIDANSEK (SLO) d. Eleni CHRISTOFI (GRE) / Anastasia DETIUC (MDA) 62 62

Although this is only doubles, it is a good achievement for Pranjala to win at this high level tournament where the competition is close to grand slams. This will hopefully give her confidence that she belongs at this elite level and improve her singles performances next year.

This will also her improve her ranking a few places and get close to top 20.

After reaching the Doubles QF and Singles R16 at the AO Jr. Slam event last week, Pranjala is ranked #16 in the jr. list and is close to her career high of #15...

She has age on her side. Hopefully she'll be able to improve her game and get better results in the Jr. events and transition on to the Pro tour.. :goodluck:

With her Aurangabad challenger points updated, Pranjala is also now at a career high of 717 in the WTA rankings. She will turn 17 only in March. So, this is pretty good progress so far.

This is her recent interview -

Sania Mirza is a great inspiration: Pranjala Yadlapalli, India's top junior player

Finally an update on Pranjala - Article
In her bid to compete with the best in the world, Pranjala is training hard. She underwent a two-month long coaching at the JTCC Tennis Academy in Maryland recently to improve her overall game. “I have seen a lot of change in my game from the two-month training period at the academy. I improved on my groundstrokes, on-court moment and my serve. I think it will help me prepare well for his level. I can see a distinct change in my game now. I am working hard every day. Currently I am training with Vasudeva Reddy at NVK Academy and also with Sanjay sir at Sunjay Tennis Academy alternatively,” she said.
Right now, Pranjala is in search of a sponsorship that would allow her to train abroad. “I thank GVK for sponsoring me for competing in tournaments. To go to the next level, I need more training abroad. That is a costly affair. If I can find a sponsor, I will train abroad and I can realise my dream of representing the country,” she said.

Thanks for the update, VReddy.
Pranjalla will only turn 18 in a week's time, so she is still eligible to play the junior Slams. I wish she would, although will need to boost her ranking quite a bit in order to do so (now 168 in the juniors and 913 in the WTA, vs career highs of 15 and 654 respectively).

Pranjala has already played in about 7-8 junior slams in last 2 years. So, it is reasonable for her to drop juniors now in her last year like Sania had done.

I am not sure why she is playing so little on pro tour though. Only 1 tournament so far in 3 months this year. I thought she was injured but does not seem so.

Perhaps her thinktank felt that her game needed changes to compete / move up on the pro tour and decided to invest in 2 months training at the JTCC

Congratulations to Pranjala for winning her first ITF singles title when she won $10K futures in Egypt yesterday. She had 2 very good wins over much higher ranked players in the QF and SF and than a comeback win from 1-4 down in third set in the final.

12 points from this title will take her up inside top 800 in next update. Of course, she has been ranked in 650's last year and her current lower rank was due to the fact that she had played only 2 tournaments before this week in 2017. Perhaps missing due to some injury or retooling her game as she had suggested in an article posted above.

Either way, there seemed to be real improvement in her game last week particularly on her serve where she was winning around 80% of her first serve points.

Hope she continues this success next week and thereafter.

At $15,000 Shymkent, KAZ (Outdoor Clay)

[QF] (3) Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND,474) l. Varvara FLINK (RUS, 631) : 2-6, 2-6

It was a bad loss for Pranjala against a low ranked player.
