Re: Pranjala Yadlapalli thread
Fabulous stuff! Second title in a row for India!! Pranjala and Karman are the future of Indian women's tennis!!!
Re: Pranjala Yadlapalli thread
That's just awesome.
Not to take anything away from our girls, but the rather one-sided scorelines makes me question the calibre of their opponents. Pranjala hasn't been blowing her rivals off the court in her other junior events, which is why I find this surprising...

Re: Pranjala Yadlapalli thread
Pranjala is currently top ranked junior in Asia but there are a few ( like our own Karman) who are ranked lower as they have played fewer junior tournaments.
Frankly, the field at this WTA futures starts event was nothing great with both the players that Pranjala beat in SF and final not ranked in ITF junior top 100. That is why I am not so much excited about her this title win. Her title win in Asian junior in Delhi in April was in a much more competitive field.

Re: Pranjala Yadlapalli thread
Yes, of course. But, you never know how they develop while transitioning to pros. Sania for instance was never as good as European girls of her age in juniors. But, she went ahead of most of them in pros. Pranjala and Karman are two of most talented to come out on girls side for some time. Hope they develop at least into top 100 level WTA players.

I am pretty sure Karman will, and I hope Pranjala will, too.sameerph wrote:Yes, of course. But, you never know how they develop while transitioning to pros. What about Mihika? Does anyone have views on her potential? She managed to break into the junior top 100 despite not playing much (i think), but she seems quite diminutive, and her results of late are not in the same league as the other two, although she did beat Karman less than a year ago.

Re: Pranjala Yadlapalli thread
Pranjala is a year younger than Karman, and the latter has gained great confidence from her win in Singapore last year. I hope Pranjala is similarly inspired. Being top-20 in world juniors at 16 is really a very big deal!

Re: Pranjala Yadlapalli thread
This week only Pranjala is in the main draw at the Orange Bowl juniors. So, posting in her thread.
At Metropolia Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship - Grade A(Clay)
[R1] (10) Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND,25) vs. Sofia SEWING (USA,92)
Considering her current form in these conditions, not an easy match for Pranjala.

Re: Pranjala Yadlapalli thread
Very nice win over #92 for Prajalla. All the more creditable that it was on clay at the big Orange Bowl tournament.

Re: Pranjala Yadlapalli thread
Reasonably close match against a local girl ranked #56. Pranjalla still has at least one more full year on the junior circuit to develop her skills, and capitalize on winning the junior (under-16) playoff before the WTA Finals in Singapore.
