Re: Ankita Raina thread
But she got broken again, and is facing BPs at 3-6 2-3, 15-40... Broken. 3-6, 2-4 and facing serve. Not looking good.
Just as I say it, Ankita breaks her back and it is on serve at 3-6, 3-4... But she drops 4 points from 30-0 up and is broken again. Now, facing serve, to stay alive, at 3-6 3-5... She falls at 3-6, 3-6.
EDIT: Looks like the scoreboard showed a loss after I saw 30-30 and I went away; I come back and find, as below, that she stayed alive and took ito a third set. What a fight. Wish the results were different...

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Hey, she is still alive and is now up a break 6-5 in the second set.
And holds at love to take the second set 7-5. What a comeback from being a matchpoint down at 3-5.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Damn, Ankita misses 4 breakpoint chances in the first service game of the third set by Duan and gets broken from 30-0 up to be down 0-2 in the third set.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Ankita misses 3 more breakpoints in the next Duan service game to be 0-3 down. Ankita is 0-7 on breakpoints in this set while Duan is 1-1 which is making all the difference in this set.
And now she falls but not before an excellent fightback in the second set.
At $125K Zhengzhou Women's Tennis Open 2018, China
[R1] (Q) Ankita Raina (IND,197) l. (5) Yingying Duan (CHN,103), 36 75 36
Breakpoints converted 5 out of 19 by Ankita and 7 out of 10 by Duan 3 out of 10. Duan also had a bigger serve, 4 aces and winning 63% points on first serve. But, still first 3 games in the third set, Ankita had multiple game/break point chances which she failed to take. Else, result could have been different.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Narrow loss against a much higher-ranked opponent playing at home. The signs remain very positive from Ankita's game.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Ankita will be playing her 5th consecutive tournament in Quanzhou next week. Frankly, she should have taken a break next week now that she has cemented herself a place in RG Qualifying. With the new rank in her hand, she can easily enter the European challengers MD to prep for RG. Nevertheless, for Quanzhou, a tough field awaiting.

She also has to cement her place for Wimbledon qualifying and has lot of points falling off in May.bujilover wrote: ↑Fri Apr 20, 2018 6:22 am Ankita will be playing her 5th consecutive tournament in Quanzhou next week. In fact, after that $60K in Quanzhou next week, he is in the main draw entry list of WTA 125K in Anning in the week of April 30 and in the initial entry list of $60K in Luan in the week of May 7 ( where she reached the final last week). That will be seven consecutive weeks for her before she moves to Europe for French open.
I said earlier that she should have taken 1 week break in between. Perhaps the right week to take break was third week of 25K in Japan. Now are all bigger tournaments where she can earn lot of points and money. I only hope she stays injury free with this hectic scheduling.
