Re: Ankita Raina thread
Excellent win for Ankita . Her opponent was in the final of a $25K ITF in Germany just last month. Let's hope Ankita dominates her local opponent in R2

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Actually her opponent retired at 3-2, 15-30 in second set. She had a nasty fall at 2-1 deuce and seemed to be crying with pain. Came back after MTO but couldn't complete the match.

Yikes! The ITF live scores app showed it a complete winner. Just noticed the correct result in their website.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
She was 0-3 in the decider and I stopped watching. Are there any ITF rules with respect to having ballkids for a tournament? I can't believe this $25K ITF doesn't have either ballkids or even linesmen to help the players.
I am not sure if Ankita lost her match, but it's great to see her traveling to these strange cities and trying to make it big still. She should win the doubles final now.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Ankita lost the QF.
[QF] (7) Ankita Raina (IND,271) l. (3) Valentyna Ivakhnenko (RUS,240) 26 64 36
I watched the third set. Ankita tried to mount a comeback from 0-4 down but it was too little too late.
Ankita's game is not ideal for clay courts as she hits flat on both wings. The groundstrokes are quite good but most of the shots which would have been winners on hard courts were returned by her opponent.
I don't know what she chose to play these set of tournaments on European clay instead of being in Asia for the hard courts ones.
After reaching a $60K final in China in April , she has not played a single tournament on hard courts. Thankfully, next week it is back on hard courts at a $60K in Turkey.
