Re: Ankita Raina thread
Ankita plays Naiktha Bains at the Nottingham WTA Qualifying. From what I see in Naiktha's junior grass-court records, this should not be a struggle for Ankita. Winner gets $1,020 and 12 WTA ranking points.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Ankita is in the doubles draw at Manchester ITF. Never knew one could play 2 tournaments at the same week (i.e one each for singles & doubles).
Prarthaha is playing with Kumkhum this week. She should finally be able to break the R1 jinx.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Ankita and Neel just leveled 1-set all in their R1 match at Manchester.
Ingrid NEEL/ Ankita RAINA (USA/IND) 3-6 6-4 Emily APPLETON/Samantha MURRAY (GBR)
The scoreboard was frozen at Neel/Raina 5-0 in the STB. But our pair won

Re: Ankita Raina thread
From the WTA rulebook:
" Playing Singles/Doubles the Same Week in Different Tournaments
A player is allowed to play singles in one (1) Tournament and doubles in another Tournament in the same week, provided the player has been eliminated from one (1) Tournament by the doubles sign-in deadline of the other Tournament. A player may not participate in both Tournaments at the same time."
Smart move from Ankita to get some match practice. I saw her taking the train ride from Nottingham to Manchester on Instagram and she is already back on court winning her R1 doubles match

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Congratulations to Ankita for winning her 7th ITF title and third at $25K level when she won the $25K title in Nothanburi, Thailand this week.
These are her results this week -
At $25K ITF Women,Nothanburi, Thailand
[R1] (2) Ankita RAINA (IND,214) d. Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND,384) 63 67(5) 63
[R2] (2) Ankita RAINA (IND,214) d. (Q) Gabriella DA SILVA FICK (AUS,806) 62 36 60
[QF] (2) Ankita RAINA (IND,214) d. Tamaryn HENDLER (BEL,383) 61 64
[SF] (2) Ankita RAINA (IND,214) d. Na-Lae HAN (KOR,232) 16 75 60
[F] (2) Ankita RAINA (IND,214) d. (4) Risa OZAKI (JPN,243) 62 63
Toughest fight to her was provided by Pranjala in the first round. Good that in the later part of the SF and final she seemed to have hit the peak form.
She had 29 points to defend next week from $60K SF in Turkey last year. So, net she will add 21 points to her total and will be back in top 200, somewhere around 190 in the WTA rankings as on 23rd July.
She will be playing another $25K in Thailand next week.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
The young Taiwan teenager ranked #3 in the junior circuit is the reigning AO junior champion. I think this will be a difficult match for Ankita to win.

It was 7-6(15) in the second set. Apparently Ankita saved 5 match points before winning sets 2 and 3 according to our guys at ITD.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Excellent comeback win by Ankita. She is a fighter for sure and never gives up in a match. Much tougher match against a top 100 local player whom she lost to at Anning in April.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Good job living up to her seeding, especially with that tough win over the reigning AO junior champion.
