Great job Ankita!!! It is never easy to make Indian sports administrators reconsider based purely on results. Looks like Prajnesh also is fighting his way into the list, following Ankita's lead!
Quite a dominating win for Ankita in just 58 minutes. She now awaits the winner of Yafan Wang (CHN, Seeded 2, ranked 87) vs Dannielle Lao (USA, ranked 204). The American won the first set 7-5, and up a break in the second. Looks like an upset is in the making! A bright chance for Ankita to take on a lower ranked player and proceed further deep in the draw.
Now Ankita is getting to play against players in the top 100 where she is going to get tested. It is going to be fun to see how she adjusts her game to win against higher level competition. It would great if someone like Prof watches her game and gives her feedback.
Very tough match for Ankita against a local top 100 player. But, she needs some good points in the next 2 weeks to make sure of making it to Wimbledon qualies. She has 48 points from Last week's $60K Luan final to defend.
The Wimbledon cut off date is 4th June but it seems only this week at Anning and next week at Luan is where Ankita will have to earn those points. it. It seems after that there is a week off for her and than French open qualies- points from which will be only added at the end of the tournament.

Wimbledon announce that the ladies' singles qualifying draw will extend to 128 places, bringing it equal with the men.
Great news! Does this mean Ankita will be able to squeeze in?
