Took 4 straight games from 3-5 down in re second set. What a fighter. Into the SF.

He is begining to get tired looks like. Will need a big effort if he has to win next 2 matches.

He's probably tired from playing so many matches. Wouldn't mind if he and his partner, who still has to play singles later today, just wind up defaulting their doubles match.

Good fighting win ... Hopefully, he is recovered for his semi-final against another Argentine, Juan Pablo Ficovich.

At $54K+H Campinas Challenger 2019, Brazil

[SF] (6) Sumit Nagal (IND,135) vs Juan Pablo Ficovich (ARG,325)

He's played a lot of tennis these last 2 weeks, so his body is likely paying a price with cramping as well as other muscular stresses. Ideally, he wins another round (or title) here and skips the last week of this 3 week swing.

The elite players who typically go deep in draws do not play too many weeks in a row and Sumit should likely be careful as well.

He still got a relatively good deal, got a Wednesday start and his opponent retired at 4-1. That being said, things aren't easy when you're also playing doubles, 2 in Buenos Aires and 2nd one at Campinas in couple of hours..

Doubles is a lot less stress than singles. Not only are you covering roughly half the court, the rallies are also generally shorter with a lot more net interventions. That is why it is what the old folks play in the clubs. :D It is the large number of singles matches which is a concern especially for someone like Sumit who has to grind out points from the back court in his service games in addition to his return games (i.e., he has almost no easy points in the match).

I'm traveling (abroad) and could not watch the last two matches. Hope the limping is not anything too serious. He should not push it with too much tennis. Get out of this event without any further damage (hopefully with one or two more wins) and take some solid rest.

Sumit and partner conceded the doubles. The official reason was Sumit's "headache". Their opponents got a walkover in the next round (SF) as well because of Leonardo Mayer's back injury (Mayer also conceded his singles R3 for the same reason). Sumit's doubles partner is in the singles SF as well (in the other half of the draw).

Sumit is at yet another new career-high of 129 now. Making the final would take him to 122, winning the title to 119.

Ok, so the headache actually helped avoid the double headache :) ... Yeah, take rest and eat some good food with the couple of hundred that he got for that doubles win earlier.

Sumit seems to have run out of steam. He was broken in the first game, and is now serving at 2-4 in the first set of the semifinal.
Sumit saved a break point and then held to make it 3-4. He had a chance at 30-all in the next game, but his opponent finished the rally by coming to the net and putting away a good volley. 3-5
Sumit was up 40-30, but a UFE made it deuce. Excellent rally to make it Ad-Sumit, and then the opponent's attempt to come to the net again fails, as Sumit hits to his feet. 4-5
The Argentine had 3 set points at 40-0, but he double faulted. Sumit failed to capitalize on a weak second serve on the next point, and made a bad UFE on the fourth shot (going for too much and hitting very wide). Lost first set 4-6.

Someone else please take over. I'm off to sleep (it's 1:23am here).

Horrible first game of the second set too, and Sumit is broken at 30, after being down 0-40 initially. Bad UFE to send the game. 4-6, 0-1
The Argentine holds at love. He serve-volleyed the second point. On the third, Sumit came to the net, but a terrible volley from him cost him the point. Then the opponent quickly put away the next point with a strong serve. 0-2

Sumit started the set with 2 double faults .Not looking good. He is missing easy shots now. Mostly due to tiredness.

After a long time a bad match from Sumit, mostly due to tiredness of continuous matches in the last couple of weeks ... Sumit failed to raise his game and struggled with his overall game in this match ... Next, week, there is a big challenger in the Dominican Republic.

At $54K+H Campinas Challenger 2019, Brazil

[SF] (6) Sumit Nagal (IND,135) l Juan Pablo Ficovich (ARG,325) 46 16
