Nice win by Sumit, always knew he was playing good since the last 3 weeks, and only the vital break eluded him, hope he sustains this form and goes deep in this tournament.
Not sure about his rest of season plans, as Praj & Ram have their entries worked out for the next 3 weeks, but Sumit appears only on IW Alt list and not qualies, and getting in directly at IW is a very remote possibility, so is this his (Sumit) last tournament for the season?

As I said earlier, timely return to form by Sumit. He successfully defends the 29 points which he had to defend this week. Now, even if he loses next match and does not play anywhere again this year, he will fall to only around 220 which will be safe to make it to AO qualies.

Tough match next up against top seed.

At Sibiu Open, Romania (Clay)

[SF] (8) Sumit Nagal (IND,212) vs (1) Stefano Travglia (ITA,97)

Sumit is 0-3 against Stefano and lost twice to him this year. Last match early this month was close though when Sumit lost 4-6 in third set. Hope it will be third time lucky for Sumit.

Another good win by Sumit, but as Sameer mentioned a tough match against Travglia ... Hopefully he will surprise us.

3 "easy" matches and now comes the real challenge. Top seed anf sub 100 ranking.

Good luck!

Not sure I would call the Jiri Lehecka win as being easy given that he won a challenger the previous week!

In fact, he can draw inspiration from the laws of transitivity in that Lehecka beat Travaglia last week in the semis, and Sumit beat Lehecka here. :D

Yes, Travaglia was top seeded last week as well, and Jiri Lehecka beat him in straight sets 63 76(3). So Sumit's 75 63 win over Lehecka this week suggests Sumit is the in-form player -- and will hopefully get his revenge against Travaglia in this week's SF.

Fair enough. But Sumit is seeded 8 here and his wins have been against unseeded. But yes, Jiri is a good player. It only gets harder now against the top seed and if he wins maybe Kokk?

Sanjay, his seeding was based on last week's ranking. His ranking is now lower than Jiri. So, if we go only by rankings, that was an upset win by Sumit.

There are many x factors we don't know of. Last week's winner was playing his 7th or 8th match when Sumit beat him. Last week's semi finalist is now playing his 8th match in two weeks and we don't know how good his legs are.

Sumit lost the semis 4-6, 6-0, 0-6. The last two sets is what he was talking about.

It makes sense to share the score so that we can appreciate the comment! :D
