Quality win by Sumit! The fact that he could fight all the way to the end to win seems to indicate that he is also regaining his fitness (injury recovery and match fitness). Looking for a competitive performance against Lehecka to get more confirmation that he is back!

Sumit lost in a close match against top seed.

At Liberec Challenger 80, Czech Republic (Clay)

[R2] (Q) Sumit Nagal (IND,552) l. (1) Jiri Lehecka (CZE,65) 46 61 36

13 double faults proved to be Sumit's undoing. Otherwise, we could have seen a big upset. But, overall pretty encouraging show by Sumit this week after a long time.

He has entered a challenger in Germany next week with his PR.

This week was really encouraging, including this match. He must have played really well in that 6-1 second set against a top-ranked player today. Looking forward to next week.

Really promising performance by Sumit! 13-13 in games and 79-79 in points, so completely even statistically. Take away the net 16 points gained by Lehecka on serves, it seems Sumit was the better player from the back court. Let see how he does going forward....

Sumit played in invitational Ellise pro tennis challenge in US in last 3-4 days and beat former top 40 player Ryan Harrison in group stage, current world #68 Hugo Gaston in SF and currrent junior Wimbledon champion Michael Zheng in the final to win the title there.

Some of videos of Sumit's matches are on following twitter handle-

Good set of matches for Sumit on hard courts before USO qualies.

Sumit looks good in the last few weeks. Sometimes you can’t tell much based on exhibition matches but if the prize money is decent then the players play reasonably hard. Hope he does well in the US Open qualies. Still remember his effort against Federer in the US Open main draw.

Wish I had known Sumit was playing in this exhibition as it’s only 1 hour from where I live. Anyway, glad to see him playing well these days and looking and feeling healthy.

Sumit will be off to play on South America on clay for challengers from next week. He has used his PR for entry for next week's Buenos Aires challenger next week and Campimas/Rio De Janerio challengers in Brazil for 2 weeks after that. Sumit had had good success in South America previously. Hope he does that again and goes deep in these challengers.

Let's see how he does. He looks fit and ready to go. Clay is a good surface for the legs but the long rallies could be challenging for the hip, shoulder (and upper body), so here's hoping he plays well and stays fit.

Sumit playes a qualifier in first round.

At Buneous Ires Challanger 80, Argentina (Clay)

[R1] Sumit Nagal (IND,484) vs. Thiago Seyboth Wild (BRA,374)

Sybeoth Wild does not have too much recent success but has a career high ranking of 106. So, he will not be an easy opponent for Sumit.
