Sumit's match is currently live on ATP challenger stream -

Genoa Challenger

2 breaks exchanged and it is 4-4 in the first set.

Sumit holds at 30. Got to 40-0 on Stefano serve but he got it back to deuce but Sumit played well to take the next 2 points and wins the first set 6-4.

Some great ground stroke winners and some excellent scampering across the court from Sumit here. He is making Stefano play that extra ball at the same time hitting winners from time to time.

In the second set, Sumit got broken in the third game but broke right back for 2-2 and then held at 30 for 3-2.

Sumit went 40-15 up on Stefano serve, got back to deuce but Sumit won next 2 points to go ahead 4-2.

Sumit taken to deuce twice but held for 5-2.

And he breaks Stefano at 30 for 6-2 and completes a dominating win. :D Won 5 straight game from 1-2 down just like he won 3 straight game from 3-4 down in first set.

At $150K+H Genoa Challenger 2018, Italy

[R1] (Q) Sumit Nagal (IND,306) d. Stefano Napolitano (ITA,209) 64 62

Next,

Yet another terrific win for Sumit Nagal! Stefano Napolitano is a 23 year old with a career high ranking of 152 last year. Thrashing him is HUGE!

With Sumit it is feast or famine. I hope this feasting period runs for the rest of the year!!

Sumit leads 5-2 against Garin in the first set.

3 breaks against 2.

And both hold serve easily and Sumit takes the first set 6-3.

Sumit up an early break leading 2-0 in the second set.

But, he gets broken back for 2-2.

Damn, Sumit gets broken serving at 3-4 and then Garin held to take the second set 6-3.

In the third set Garin raised his game and Sumit looked a little tired and also took a medical time out. Still it went close and it was only 1 break against Sumit which decided the match. :-(

At $150K+H Genoa Challenger 2018, Italy

[R2] (Q) Sumit Nagal (IND,306) l. Christian Garin (CHI,158) 63 36 64

Garin had reached a challenger final last week. So, he is the one in form. Sumit looked to be dominant against till middle of the second set. Then, played a couple of loose games and Garin played well from that point along. Playing 5th match of the week probably proved too much for Sumit. Close match - 80 points against 82 by Garin.

Like we call Mukund, Sasi, we got to come up with a name when Sumit plays badly. How about Bagit?

Well that didn't go according to plan. Might as well go have a hit in Serbia.

Given that Bagit showed up again, I'd still play Ramk and Prajnesh in the Davis Cup singles matches, so not much impact to the Indian team. However, I Sumit can regain his form, he could be a good clay court option in the future....

Sumit lost in straight sets.

At $50K+H Sibiu Challenger 2018, Romania

[R1] Sumit Nagal (IND,295) l. (3) Pedro Sousa (POR,144) 26 46

I watched parts of the match. Don't think clay is necessarily his best surface as Sumit seems think based on his scheduling. His backhand looks too weak on this surface against top 200 level players. He should be playing more in Asia on hard courts where the field too will be weaker compared to Europe.
