I don't like him losing to another 14 year old Asian like himself, but it was a mighty close match and on clay...Sumit Nagal remains a very exciting prospect.

Yes, last week he lost to the Korean 26 26 at Coasta Rica on hard courts. He came much closer to winning this week on clay.

This is a brief report on Sumit's final in another forum -

Panama Bowl 2012 Finals
Yesterday we had the Panama Bowl 2012 finals. It was a great match between Sumit Nagal and Seong Chan Hong (winner of last year Eddie Herr & Orange Bowl 14's). It was a long match in a really hot and muggy weather. The match went to 3 sets after Song failed to close the first one after being 5-3 serving for the match. Nagal won the first set 7-5, second went to Hong 7-6 and the third started 3-0 for an injured Nagal. He could barely walk due to cramping. Hong suddenly started to play the right game and won 6-4.

Congratulations to both players who gave us over 3 and a half hours of great tennis.

Sumit is currently ranked 3rd in the list of boys born in 1997 & later...
His current overall rank is 131. I think he needs to win more & push his ranking up to be able to play the Jr Slams...

He lost in R1 of both singles and doubles at the just concluded Offenbach Jr Tourn in Germany.

20th International Junior Tournament of Offenbach, GER - Grade I

[R1] Sumit NAGAL (IND) l. (Q) Vincent Thierry SCHNEIDER (GER) 46 57

[R1] Sumit NAGAL (IND) / Omar JASIKA (AUS) l. (6) Wayne MONTGOMERY (RSA) / Guillermo NUNEZ (CHI) 36 16

This will be a very good warm-up event for Sumit before the USO Jr. Qualies, where he was in the ALT list for a while before making it in... :goodluck:

Sumit is the top seed in qualifying for grade 1 Canadian open which starts from today. So, one more tournament for him before USO qualifiers.

I love it that Sumit is at these events now itself and pulling off some good wins too. So far he is is right on schedule, and does not seem to be getting messy advice (which to me means advice on going to Spain to play futures before you are 18, I guess :) ) .... Jay
