Sumit has entered the Challenger 100 in Heilbronn, Germany (clay) for the second week of the French Open. Second in the list, on entry rankings.

Normally on clay Sumit would be favored in this match up but given the long break its probably a very even match.

The seed in his section #5 Daniel Evans (ATP #67) doesn't have the style of play that should do well on clay, so a decent chance for Sumit if he can win the first round. Good luck to him!

Looks like Sumit dropped out of Bordeaux? His name is in the wikipedia draw but not on draftsranking.

He is still there in the ATP site's draw. Most of the first round matches are on Wednesday. They have not posted the schedule for tomorrow but should doing that soon. We will check if there is any issue and if he is missing. I don't think he will drop out...

What is draftsranking? You mean dartsranking? Their lists go away once the draw is made for any week, and they show only the next week's events.

This is the link I use to stalk Sumit. :D Until yesterday Bordeaux was on there for him.

It's strange that the entire tournament has disappeared so maybe it is a data problem.

^^ I see. No issue. That is how they show it at the dartsranking website. They take out their entry lists for any week's events once the main draw for those events. Then it resets to the next week and schedules they show are only from next week onward. That is all.

You got scared for nothing! :)

Hmm you are right... I checked for Medvedev and he is playing in Rome but it does not show up in his schedule!
Hoping to see a good match tomorrow.

Sumit's match is scheduled for 10:30 am Wednesday. He likes it when it is bright and sunny. Good!

Google says 8am Central (which has already passed). But some other places say 1:35pm Central. There's some confusion.

Yeah. Not looking good. Broken 4 times in a row after 2-2 in the first. 26 03 and facing serve.

Got a break back but broken for a 5th time. 26 14 and facing serve.

Do we even know exactly why he took that long break? Wasn’t sure he if just wanted to train and work on certain aspects of his game or was he hurt and needed to rest.

Pretty sure that he had some physical ailment that he did not talk about. Nobody would take a 5 week break at that juncture without that. No way.

He finally held, after saving one match point. 26 25 and facing serve. And he lost 26 26.

Players will often not talk about "subtle" injuries as it may impact their chances of playing in the majors or other such tournaments if it is known that they are potentially injured. For someone like Sumit, skipping ATP/Masters level tournaments on clay that he would have literally dreamt about playing over his entire career, makes little sense otherwise.

Even if he felt like taking a break to rest and recharge, it would have likely been 1-2 weeks absent some kind of physical issue.
