Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Looks like change in coaching personnel and coaching stint from Waske acadamy, Germany to Ferrer acadamy in Spain from the start of the year has not worked for Sumit so far.
Btw, there seems to be some change in Sumit's schedule which I posted earlier-
April 30- $75K(+H) Ostrava Challenger, Czech Republic
May 7- $50K(+H) Braga Challenger, Portugal
May 14- $75K(+H) Samarkand Challenger, Uzbekistan
Ma 21- French open qualies.
Smart change in the week of May 14 choosing an easier challenger in Uzbekistan instead of continuing in Portugal. I think he needs some wins to get the confidence back. One good week can turn it around.
Hope it happens before French open qualies as I had though with his clay game, he has a pretty good chance at FO qualies. Not with current form.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Bad loss but Hoang has reached the semis here with 6 wins in a row.
5 of the 8 quarterfinalists were wild cards, qualifier or a lucky loser so bit of a strange tournament.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Yes, these European challengers on clay are so tough. Giaunlunca Quinzi whom Sumit has beaten last month in a German challenger has reached the SF here too. Not too many Asians play these European challengers and not seen too many Asians succeed. Perhaps, Sumit should have played the China challengers like others and would have had better success.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Frankly he lost opportunity in the first 4 months to improve his ranking as he wasn't defending much points.

Agree with jaydeep. He will do well to defend his ranking in the latter half of the season.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Sumit scored a win in the doubles with his Spaniard partner ... They had a chance of winning this match in two sets as had 2 match points in the tie-break at 6-4 but lost next 4 points to lose the set ... Sumit-Pedro recovered and dominated the match tie-break ... Next, they r facing the top-seed pair.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Yes, 5 straight losses from davis cup and today's scoreline was surprising. I hope he is not playing with any injury. If it is a confidence thing, he should play some less tougher tournaments than this on clay against European players. Next week at Samarkand should be a littler easier if he gets a good draw.
