Travelling can be a nightmare in these covid times for these players who travel across globe.

I assume her injury problems are behind her now. Great way to restart, with a title.

She has entered in both singles and doubles draws this week and has already started with a win in the doubles being the top seeds with partner Paige Hourigan. Here’s to another successful week :goodluck:

Rutuja is in Portoroz, Slovenia participating in the inaugural WTA 250 tournament alongside partner Emily Webley-Smith. The pair managed to get a direct entry into the doubles draw. The tournament starts next week.

Rutuja has been playing in Egypt since last week. Last week in singles she lost in final round of qualifying and lost in doubles semi final.

This week she has qualified into singles main draw and has a good first round win too.

[Q2] (4) Rutuja Bhosale (IND,509) d. Elizaveta Gurlanova (RUS,NR) 60 62
[Q3] (4) Rutuja Bhosale (IND,509) d. (7) Sapfo Sakellaridi (GRE,529) 64 61

Main draw-

[R1] (Q) Rutuja Bhosale (IND,509) d. Sinna Herrmann (GER,452) 62 61

Next,

[R2] (Q) Rutuja Bhosale (IND,509) vs. Anastasia Zakharova (RUS,240)

Rutuja had a very good week in Thailand where she reached singles SF and won the doubles title.

These are her doubles results this week-

[R1] (2) Rutuja Bhosale (IND) / Erica Sema (JPN) d. Humera Baharmus (IND) / Vaidehi Chaudhari (IND) 62 63
[QF] (2) Rutuja Bhosale (IND) / Erica Sema (JPN) d. Riya Bhatia (IND) / Anastatiia Poplavska (UKR) 63 64
[SF] (2) Rutuja Bhosale (IND) / Erica Sema (JPN) d. Xinyu Gao (CHN) / Fang Ying Xun (CHN) 64 75
[F] Rutuja Bhosale (IND) / Erica Sema (JPN) d. Haruna Arakawa (JPN) / Natsuko Arakawa (JPN) 61 63

This is her second doubles this year. And with that she will move just ahead Prarthana to be India #3 in doubles. Both are very close together though.

But, more importantly by my calculation, when these points are updated on June 20, Rutuja should just nudge ahead of Ankita to be India #1 in singles. Rutuja should be at 111 points and Ankita at 110 points. Not 100% sure but if it happens, I think after many years Ankita will relinquish her position as India #1.

Ankita is not losing any big points for the next 5 weeks. So, I don't think Rutuja will be #1. She will be #2 though ahead of Karman..

She is losing last year's FO and Nottingham i.e around 32 points this week for sure. Not sure which others she is losing. WTA official site does not give any break-up of current points as far as I see it.

I relied on this website -

live rankings

This shows Ankita's live points at 102. Her current points are shown as 161. Really not clear how she comes down from 161 to 102 without knowing which points were part of her 161 points. So many of 2019 points are still there in tally. So, it is all so confusing.

ATP is much clearer where they give break-up of rankings and they have also started publishing live rankings on official webisite now.
