Re: Rutuja Bhosale thread
Seems like a busy day on the court for Rutuja yesterday as she played the doubles QF and won against Tomic/Gabriella for the second consecutive week.
At $25,000 Brisbane
QF Rutuja BHOSALE (IND) / Shilin XU (CHN) [4] 6-2 6-4 Gabriella DA SILVA FICK (AUS) / Sara TOMIC (AUS)
Some tough scheduling from the tournament with both her doubles SF and singles R2 on the OOP for Wednesday.

Re: Rutuja Bhosale thread
A good start for Rutuja against Ozaki with a break. 3-0 up in the first. Too early to say anything.... Okay, she takes the first set in style 6-1. Go girl!!
The match getting a bit tight in the second set, as expected. 61 44 now... But RB is not running tino trouble. Damn, she just had 4 BPs from 15-40, on Ozaki's serve but she still held. 61 45 and RB serving. Now she is down 15-40 and faces her first BPs, if I am not mistaken. Just when she was close to finishing it off. Does not look good. She drops serve and loses the set. She just lost 7 of 8 points from when she had that 4th break chance at 5-5. Now, 61 57 00. It is tough to play long three-setters when you are playing your 5th singles match of the week. Come on Rutuja!!!
Third set. RB must have got her spirit back. She breaks Ozaki and holds, for 61 57 20... And she keeps the pedal firmly down for another upset win!
[R2] (Q) Rutuja BHOSALE (IND,382) d. Risa OZAKI (JPN,292), 61 57 62
which brings up
[QF] (Q) Rutuja BHOSALE (IND,382) vs (8) Ellen PEREZ (AUS,235)

Re: Rutuja Bhosale thread
That's quite an impressive run from Rutuja who seems to be consistently punching above her weight. QF is going to be a stern test against yet another higher ranked opponent who will be backed by a partisan crowd.

Yes, impressive results and Rutuja is showing consistency in her performance after selecting these tough ITF tournaments in Australia.

Re: Rutuja Bhosale thread
I've been reading up on Ellen Perez, Rutuja opponent in the QF. Like Rutuja, Ellen Perez played NCAA tennis representing the U. of Georgia and rose to No. 3 in the rankings in her sophomore year. She is currently at her highest WTA ranking after reaching the final of the $60K ITF event in Darwin last week. She is also ranked 92 in the doubles. So we are going to see a matchup of two 22 year olds who are playing professional tennis full time. Both of them might be under-ranked at this moment.

Re: Rutuja Bhosale thread
Rutuja has been playing close to four hours every day thanks to doing well in the singles as well as doubles. I guess it is a testament to her fitness that she's been fighting even in the third set. I feel that playing college tennis teaches our players to pay attention to fitness.

Re: Rutuja Bhosale thread
Nothing went right for Rutuja today, it seems. Maybe because she is very tired too. Almost a double bagel

Re: Rutuja Bhosale thread
Rutuja is back on the court for her doubles finals already. I hope she doesn't become too tired and skip next week (Toowomba $25K) altogether.

Re: Rutuja Bhosale thread
At $25,000 Toowoomba, AUS 08 October - 14 October 2018
[R1] Bhosale, Rutuja (IND, 382) vs Bains, Naiktha (AUS, 318)
Tough R1 match for Rutuja as she remains in Australia for another week. Looks like she is not playing doubles this week.
