They got tight. It happens. They are a new pair with not too many finals in the bag. They have got to stick to the positives and not beat themselves up too much no matter how much it stings in the next few days. Just got to play the point and not the scoreboard next time.Varma wrote:Just outright ridiculous. From being in an authoritative position of 9-5 (4 match points), they royally screwed up to lose the next 6 points and the title. I am having hard time digesting it.Pretty pathetic loss.

Re: Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan thread
I watched Jeevan after a long time. In fact, didn't watch him at all after he decided to become a doubles specialist. He sure was impressive at the net for a decent part, and also seem to possess a mean lob. However, I expected him to be a lot better overall for his current ranking than what I saw today. Maybe he was having a not so good day at office, or my expectations were unreal. I am hoping it is the former.S_K_S wrote:Jeevan has got really good hands. Lovely lobs and placements,

Just very bad temperament in dealing with the crunch. Need to discipline the mind for such situations. Rangkat's temperament is also very suspect.

Bit harsh. We need to be careful when using terms like temperament. They just a bit tight. Happens to even the best.PKBasu wrote:Just very bad temperament in dealing with the crunch. Need to discipline the mind for such situations. Rangkat's temperament is also very suspect.

Disappointing loss ... The third time they lost in the final as they were two-time runner-up in Japanese challengers in November 2016.

Re: Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan thread
True, Samarth. Just a few months Leander with his partner lost an ATP final from a similar situation and he is supposed to be one the toughest mentally among Indian. It happens. Overall, this pair is doing well having reached 3 challenger finals out of the 4 tournaments which they have played together.S_K_S wrote:Bit harsh. This is just something they need to work on, mentally. Losing finals consistently is a sign of a syndrome that needs fixing; pointless making excuses.

Re: Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan thread
Despite the loss in the final, Jeevan is now ranked at a career high doubles ranking of 76. Could have been 4-5 places higher with a title last week.
This week he travels to South America for an ATP tournament in Equador.
At Equador Open, Quito (Clay)
[R1] Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan (IND)/ Sergio Galdas (PER) vs. (3) Nicolas Monroe (USA) / Artem Sitak (NZL)

Re: Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan thread
Congratulations to Jeevan for getting married to golf player Neha Tripathi in Chennai yesterday. He has posted some photos of wedding on his FB page.
Hope this brings some luck to him ( & to Neha) on pro tour.

Re: Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan thread
Not to nitpick, but I thought the wedding was at Pondicherry?
Congrats to Jeev! I hope he continues his quest in becoming a regular ATP doubles pro.

Re: Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan thread
Skugor is a very good find. He won 2 challenger titles this year already.
