Terrific run by Saketh Myneni to lift double crown at $10K Chennai Futures ... Heartily congratulation!!!

Thanks Suresh for starting his thread.

[QF] JAYAPRAKASH (IND) / MYNENI (IND) bt (3) SHOKEEN (IND) / SINGH (IND) 76(2) 62

[F] Mohit Mayur Jayaprakash (IND)/ Saketh Myneni (IND) bt Vijay Kannan (IND)/ Rohan Gajjar (IND) 64 63

Specifically adding Jay's comment about Saketh from April 2009 discussion -
Clearly Saketh has come up strong lately. Though he did not make much noise in India as a junior, he has really made use of college tennis, coming up to the #1 spot by his third year at a very good university, Alabama, ranked #13 now. He is a tall guy, something like 6-3 and does seem to have potential to do well in the pros too. Look out for him.

Saketh helped his U. of Alabama in NCAA tennis team championship ... When he joined Alabama was around 40 in the team ranking, Saketh with his teammates improved team's ranking upto #15 in his college years ... Saketh joined Alabama as 6th player but with his improved game he became #1 player for Alabama from 3rd year ... His highest NCAA ranking was #10 in singles and #14 inn doubles.

On further reading I found out that he is currently working as an assistant coach in University of Alabama and also working as an intern in Morgan Stanley.

It seems he was holding that post as assistant coach for 1 year .

This is as per latest news published this August on -
Former Ball State assistant coach Jeff Nevolo has joined the men's tennis coaching staff as a volunteer assistant, head coach Billy Pate announced on Tuesday. Nevolo replaces Saketh Myneni, who served in the same capacity for one season following his stellar playing career for the Crimson Tide.
Saketh complete four years in May 2010 . Then , he spent one more year there as assistant coach presumably must be working towards completing his graduation. So, it seems he may be back in India now.

Too early to start discussing, but have to post as i have noticed.Saketh has entered in China F1 futures(last entry in main draw) starting on the same week as Chennai open.I guess he will get a WC into main draw(might be) or atleast he can get into Qualies(as we can expect a weaker qualies).Anyhow i guess he has entered to be on the safer side.

Good luck with his preparations for 2012!!!

Saketh has not withdrawn his name from China futures after withdrawal deadline is over. So, it is certain now that he will miss Chennai qualifiers & play in $15K China F1/ F2 in Shenzhen from Jan. 2/ Jan. 9.

At China F1 Futures

Saketh faces a Taipei qualifier in the main draw of F1 futures.Much better draw to go deep as most probably he will face 7th seed in R2.

Saketh Myneni (IND, 712) vs (Q) Hsien-Yin Peng (TPE, 1237)

In doubles,he is partenering with the junior world #1 Jiri Vesley :D ,but they are drawn against top seeds in doubles.Anyways :goodluck: ,im so sure that these 2 tournaments are going to be a huge break-through once again for Saketh.

Should be easy for Saketh in the first round. But he should be careful, Peng has come through the qualifiers and is better prepared for the conditions while this is the first match of the year for Saketh.
