Rajiv wrote: Sun Jul 24, 2022 7:18 pm So the Ram of old is trully back in an emphatic manner with 2 monster back to back wins, one over near top 100 player and the other a top 100.

All this due to new found positive vibes, which otherwise would have been mission impossible few weeks ago or even until last week, when all that his opponent needed was a basic ATP ranking to beat Ram,didn't matter if opponent's ranking was in 2/3/or 4 digit's

Hope he draws the WC in the opening round.

You got your wish. He’s drawn to play the WC Shelton in the 1st round.

I’m going to give myself a pat on the back

I knew he would win today... Yeah, right! :) ... For once, it was okay to count chickens. Go RamK... What a win. Now let us get a main draw win also. One match at a time, as Rajeeeeev said :)

Rajiv - Looks like your pep talk did the trick on RamK

Ha Ha Jay... :D :D surely the talk did work out, but before that talk was a long message of over 500 to 700 words explaining him how good player he is , and just needed to connect the wires.

Think he might possibly even get through the R1 and gaurentee him total of 32 points, but then that should stop there as next will be the most talentless and useless Tennis player in the world, the serve bot Isner who has survived all these years only because of his serve and to beat the serve monster one has to be really a experienced top 50 player.

Ram’s R1 opponent # 323 Ben Shelton seems to be a worthy WC recipient , Just 19 years of age , and has played only 4 tournaments(Challengers) this year , and barring a solitary R1 loss , has reached either the semi’s or Finals in all if them, and in one even won 7 matches in row coming through the qualies to reach the Finals. So another tough opponent a no pushover he would be facing in the opening round.

Meanwhile later tonight , in the dbls takes on the fancied pairing of Rajeev Ram / Jack Sock.

I am not getting excited about RamK yet! That being said, I am thrilled to see him qualify after a string of poor performances. (Thanks Rajiv for the pep talk.)

Ben Shelton is 2022 NCAA champion. At 19 that is quite an achievement and will be a top 200 level player at least as of now.

Anyway, RamK is now 225 in live rankings in this cut off week for USO qualies. Even if he loses next and 3-4 are able to go ahead of him, he will be inside 230 and should comfortably make the qualies draw cut for USO.

An earlier match between Jack Sock and Tommy Paul got over within an hour. So, RamK's match is starting much earlier than expected now.

Although Ram put a bit of fight in the 2nd set getting his break back , it was little too late, and he lacked the usual spark and probably playing continuously for the 4th consecutive day took its toll , as the Mid Day heat touching mid 30’s on all the 4 days was so demanding that Jack Draper playing his 2nd match on Day 2 could barely walk in the last few games of the decider , and here was Ram playing for the 4th successive day in tiring physical conditions compared to his opponent who was playing his first match with fresh legs, and had these 2 met with same physical condition the result or the score line might have looked differently.

But Still the 19 year is a phenomenal talent , and is son of former top 50 player Bryan Shelton who is now a college Head coach , so the youngster is in good hands as far as his career is concerned.

And as Suresh rightly said, good that he found his form , but don’t have to be complacent as still has over 180 points to protect for the rest of the year and still a lot of effort needs to be put in to protect those 180 points , so that his ranking doesn’t suffer.
