Before the match told Ram to just play freely and play his natural game without any inhibitions and that's what precisely what Ram did to trounce the world #103 in straight sets 60 61

Now this win bring's in a glimmer of hope as far as USO quali chances are concerned, which were none existent before the start of this match so with this win now has protected 6 of the 48 points which were falling on Aug1, and these 6 points will get him to around # 262, and a win in the FQR would fetch additional 6 and get him to 190 points near about # 250 just barely enough for a quali entry, not a gaurentee, but bright hopes to make it, but one match a time.

Yes, watched most of the match and RamK played really well. Better than I have seen him play for some time.

Rajiv, his 48 points were falling off this week and they are already taken out from his tally when his live ranking of 226 is computed. Another 15 points to defend on August 1 out of which he has defended 9 points. So, even if he loses next match he loses only 9 points with a tally of 217 he will have a ranking of around 235 . He should be safe for USO qualies now.

Can't count any chickens... Getting two good matches in a row from RamK has been a rare thing lately...

But what a terrific win today, though! :notworthy: Also, it is precisely what is frusrtating about RamK's career. He has always had, and still has, all kinds of tools for getting many more wins like today's, but he has rarely been able to use it all and stay out of mistakes that lose matches.

Not counting chickens, I clearly mentioned "one match at a time", which you are ignoring :D

Ram meets Jack Draper, and the Briton is in a tremendous form having won 4 Challengers this year.

Will be a tough match.

^^ True, I missed the "one match at a time" at the end of the line... but I was actually telling myself not to count chickens, because I start doing that often in my mind, and often nothing gets hatched :)

RamK faces a tough match in Q2..

At Atlanta ATP 250, USA

[Q2] Ramkumar Ramanathan (IND,196) vs. (4) Jack Draper (GBR, 87)

Draper has won 4 challenger titles this year and had couple of wins over top 20 players in grass season. Has risen from 265 at the start of the year to 87 now.

So, Ramkumar was the higher ranked player at the start of the year? Surely, he is capable of beating the English guy. Let’s go Ramkumar. You’re too good to be stuck in this rut.

not only these 4 Challenger Trophies this year, but Draper seems like a prodigious talent, the Briton is only 20 years old.

In the dbls Ram plays with a Mexican who won the Indy Challenger beating Purav and Divij, and here too a tough opener against Rajeev Ram & Jack Sock

And RamK completes an excellent 3 set win to qualify for main draw at Atlanta.

At Atlanta ATP 250, USA

[Q2] Ramkumar Ramanathan (IND,196) d. (4) Jack Draper (GBR, 87) 76(6) 36 76(2)

19 aces and only 2 doubles faults today for RamK. Makes a high difference when his service is working like that.

So the Ram of old is trully back in an emphatic manner with 2 monster back to back wins, one over near top 100 player and the other a top 100.

All this due to new found positive vibes, which otherwise would have been mission impossible few weeks ago or even until last week, when all that his opponent needed was a basic ATP ranking to beat Ram,didn't matter if opponent's ranking was in 2/3/or 4 digit's

Hope he draws the WC in the opening round.
