Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Lovely article and good to see Leander mentoring Ramkumar whenever he can.
Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Nice article. Leander's mentoring will go a long way - really good to see this happening. Curious to see the simplification that Lee is talking about.Rajiv wrote: ↑Fri Jul 20, 2018 11:05 pm A nice article on Ram on the ATP website.

Ram at 115 back to his Career high on Live rankings.
The title will get him into the rarefied select Top 100 zone.
Due to storm warnings the Finals have been pushed early and will start at 10AM local time , which is 10PM HKG/Sing & 7.30 PM India Time

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Another great article, and great to see RamRam stretching for a single-handed backhand near the net. The improvement on the backhand flank has been the big step upward in his game this year.
If he wins the title, not only will he be catapulted to #98, he will have a place in the US Open main draw too. It will be a transformative moment in his career.

The NewPort guys aptly described Ram's exploits on their website couple of days back.

Too late for US open main draw. Entry list came out this Monday. Still, it would be great for him to break into top 100.

Yuki didn't play. And in 1 stroke RamK has catapulted him in terms of achievements at the senior level. Maybe a lesson for Yuki?

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Probably, if he could have made the main draw he could have made it to USO as the Asian Games tennis is being played in USO qualifying week.
He is now back to equal his career best ranking of #115.

The Hindu has a long tradition of tennis writing - Nirmal Shekar was a particular standout particular during the Krishnan and Amritraj eras when you could always count on excellent reporting from him.Rajiv wrote: ↑Tue Jul 24, 2018 3:33 am A nice article on Ram by "The Hindu" , the only publication in India which knows and understands Indian Tennis and Tennis in general.

But the seeds of Tennis Patronage were sown by the Kasturi family which started the magazine "Sports and Pastime" in the 1940's which later morphed into "SportsStar" , and N Ram a member of the Kasturi family firmly strengthened that tradition further and encouraged and supported the likes of Nirmal Shekar in Tennis , S. Thaygarajan in Hockey.
