Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Ram loses in straight sets 4 & 1, this after being a break up in the first and looked well set to pocket it, and once he gave back the break and the set ,it was simply one way traffic from there on.
One of the easiest challengers he has played so far of this year, favorable draw ,opened up nicely with top seed out, but sadly still couldn't capitalize.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
At least he had a couple of good wins in singles. I'd say it is a blessing in disguise to be out in the QF on clay, while still alive in doubles. His focus has to be on doing as well as possible at Newport the week after the Wimbledon final -- because he has points to defend there from his run to the final there. Doubles will help hone his volleying, but going further in singles may have interfered with practice on the Newport grass next week.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
He plays Winnetaka Challenger next week in US on hard courts. He just cannot depend on Newport ATP. He has 150 points to defend there and if he loses early he will fall outside top 200. So, he is trying to play as many tournaments as possible to minimise those loss of points. That was a disappointing loss for him in the QF in Italy on hard courts.PKBasu wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 6:41 pm At least he had a couple of good wins in singles. Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
If he does well in Winnetka, he won’t get the chance to qualify for Newport.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Yes USO qualies and possibly even AO qualies he can make the cut, Ram has around 215 points to defend from now untill end of this year, and assuming he wins zero points from now untill the end of the year he would end up around 240 to 250.
So based on his current form and play, he might end up the year in the 190 range .
Ofcourse all of this can change drastically if he finds his mojo back.So USO, AO qualies he should make in.
But right now since the past few months he seems to be taking Doubles far damm seriously in sharp contrast till untill last year where I knew what was his real attitude towards doubles was ,and this shift may not allow him to fully concentrate on singles as was the case before, when it had undivided attention.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
As last year's finalist, hopefully Ramkumar will get a singles wildcard this year if he doesn't make the main draw automatically.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Well, he's now at his career high doubles ranking of 162, but his singles (live) ranking remains higher at 140. So he is playing doubles at Winnetka based on his singles rather than doubles ranking.Rajiv wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 10:14 pm Yes USO qualies and possibly even AO qualies he can make the cut, Ram has around 215 points to defend from now untill end of this year, and assuming he wins zero points from now untill the end of the year he would end up around 240 to 250.
