My frustration is about his general schedule, not the camp specifically. I think the camp is unnecessary (clearly RamK thinks so too), but I just want him to play somewhere.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Ram is really struggling on hard courts now. Before and after his Newport Atp run, he has now gone 1-7 on hard courts in challengers and in between also lost badly in Asian games. Needs to find a way to win matches on hard courts again.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
I would still think Ram would do incredibly well if he plays on NewPort or Indian Grass Courts now. After improving his backhand, Ram is playing more a serve / volley now - I think he knows its high-risk / reward approach - I would guess they (him/coach/larger team) wants to give it a bit more time. I bet during the off-season with his coach, they would figure out more based on this year's data and make adjustments to the game plan for next year.
For the Davis Cup, given that its on clay, Prajnesh would likely be our No.1 and then a toss-up between Ram/Yuki for the #2 slot depending on Yuki's fitness.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
My bad. I thought it was on hard courts like last week. Anyway, his results on clay too this year are bad.

Except grass his backhand becomes a liability. But it's ok. He will develop it.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
Grigelis is ranked 254, with a career high six years ago of 132 (when he was considered a rising star at age 21). So this is a loss that we shouldn't read too much into, especially as it involved a change of surface (from playing on hard courts to clay).

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
A wonderfull sweet revenge for Ram over the South African/Briton,.
Just a year ago, Ram at Binghamton Challenger comming with 2 challenger finals, victory over Thiem behind him , faced a 280 something Cameron Norrie and true to form , Ram was about to serve for the set, got broken and went on loose the match, in which Camerron handled the windy blustery conditions better than Ram, Norrie not only won against the opening round but then went on to win that Challenger and all of a sudden the spike propelled him to 170 and with that spurt he has never looked behind and has gradually climbed up the ladder.
16 points for Ram so far and stands a good chance for a MD draw entry ,in the manner he played today blasting 14 aces.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
I don't think Norrie is a South African. He played for New Zealand earlier.
RamK faces the Pole Hurkacz in final qualifying round.
At $7M Shanghai ATP 1000
[Q2] RamKumar Ramanathan (IND,123) vs. Hubert Hurkacz (POL,94)

No... very much a South African, born and bred in south Africa and along with fellow south African Kyle Edmund the duo simultaneously switched allegiance to Britain
