Re: Vijay Sundar Prasanth
Thanks Prof. for sharing your brother's story. It would be great if VSP is able to reach the challenger level this year.
Re: Vijay Sundar Prasanth
Prof, Thanks for the narration of a family experience - it is touching and infuriating that an individual can be deprived of his just rewards, even on a tennis court. It is a miracle that someone without the means, found tennis and excelled. More kudos to him.

Re: Vijay Sundar Prasanth
He is beginning to make a breakthrough now. VSP won his first futures title today when he wom $10K futures in Trichy beating the top 2 seeds Bala and RamK in last 2 rounds. He has been in excellent form since last last year. First in October he qualified for Indore and Pune challengers, then made SF of all 3 futures played in India late last year. Then, he had a splendid start this year qualifying into Chennai open ATP and qualified for both Delhi and Kolkata challengers and losing close matches in first round.
With that title, he will move up to around 435 in the singles rankings.
He plays Chennai futures next week where he will be third seed behind Bala and Jeevan. Another title there will take VSP into top 400.
Go VSP.

Re: Vijay Sundar Prasanth
And he does get back to back titles winning Chennai futures this week. 36 points from 2 weeks for him. He loses 2 points from last year. Net 34 points will take him to a ranking of around 390.
It has been amazing past 6 months for him as he was ranked outside 800 till September 2014 after which he started this turnaround. This year has been particularly good as he has gone 19-5 this year.
As per his post match interview at Chennai, he will be taking a couple of weeks off and then going for futures and challengers in China. After that he will go and play in German club league tennis.
I do not see him in the entry lists of $10K futures in China on April 6 and 13. So, he will probably return for $15K futures in Yuxi on April 20 followed by $50K(+H) An-Ning challenger in the week after. With his new ranking , he may even make the main draw of that challenger (especially with 6 challengers in that week).
I also hope that he will not take too much time off for German club league as he now has a great chance to move up the rankings.

Re: Vijay Sundar Prasanth
Was fortunate to see VSPs match in person at MCC ITF Futures finals. Inspiring show of grit to overcome stomach cramps in the 3rd set to get his nose ahead at the finish line. Very smart play to hang on till the end and push himself at an opportune moment. Thoroughly enjoyed the level of tennis and the drama (in a good sense) associated with it. Learnt that VSP is well respected and admired in the Chennai tennis circle for his sustained hard work and work ethics. Evening well spent thanks to VSP

Re: Vijay Sundar Prasanth
After having a successful start to this year with 2 ITF singles titles , VSP has now entered in China $15K Futures starting April 20th. He is already in Main draw of the acceptance list with the withdrawal deadline being next Tuesday.
Its a tough tournament with most of the top-300 players entered. A good field that will test VSP's game outside India. I presume he will also be playing $50K+H An-Ning Clay Challenger the week after that

Re: Vijay Sundar Prasanth
VSP lost in a tough battle against Tsung Hua Yang in Anning CH China. He also lost in R1 doubles.
He has withdrawn from next week's Karshi CH too. Hope he gets some good results in the upcoming Indian ITF (Karnataka) series.

Re: Vijay Sundar Prasanth
Damn, why did he withdrew from next week ? Is he really playing Indian futures? Because he mentioned in the interview after playing Indian futures that he will be playing German league tennis after China challenger.
