Thanks for pointing that out. Should be a good jump for both Divij & Purav this weeksameerph wrote:Yes, first challenger title for Divij after almost a year.
His Bogota ATP points have already dropped off. Everything post Wimbledon is 1 week late this week due to greater gap between French open and Wimbledon. He will climb up close to 125 next Monday.IndianTennisFan wrote:Divij & Ken staged a superb comeback to win the title in a rain interrupted final They were down 4-6 2-4 at one stage
[F] Will get 90 ATP pts, a welcome respite since he was dropping the same amount this week due to his Bogota ATP semi final from last year

Re: Divij Sharan thread
Divij has fallen all the way to #156 in the doubles rankings (from 63 a year and a half ago). So this week's run to the final of the Izmir Challenger (already worth 55 points) will be a boon to him -- as the points will go straight into augmenting his total (replacing one of the 3 zero-point tournaments in his tally).
The win over Kretschmer/Sachko (both ranked in the top-100, with a combined ranking of 163) in the SF was especially notable.

Re: Divij Sharan thread
Divij won his 8th challenger doubles title today when he won Izmir challenger title with Saketh. 2 of his titles have come with Purav, 2 with Yuki, 1 each with Karan Rastogi, Vishnu and 1 this year with Neil Skupski and now one with Saketh.
90 points will take his ranking back up to around 135. Hope he forges a steady pair with Saketh now. It won's be that difficult to match schedules as Saketh is playing at challenger level in singles too.

Re: Divij Sharan thread
Divij lost in the first round this week against third seeds.
At $50K Yoklohoma challenger, Japan
[R1] Divij Sharan (IND) / Andriej Kapas (POL) l. (3) Yan Bai (CHN)/ Zi Li (CHN) 16 46
I am bit surprised that Divij is not able to get a better partner for him in these challengers. Kapas is only ranked 355 in ATP double ranking. If only Divij could have played with someone with at least top 200 ranking, they would been seeds with much easier draw.
It does look like a bad season for Divij where he came down from starting at the year at around 119 to a ranking of 130 now and that ranking of 119 was itself a fall from his career high ranking of 63 achieved in March 2014.
