Hopefully, he won’t have to take 6 months off after the US Open (in which case he will miss his favourite Slam, the AO).

Yuki is still the 7th-ranked player in the entry list for the US$150K+H Challenger in Chicago. Let's hope he does play there.

Great list, Jay. What's wrong with yoga though? I hope he does do some yoga :)

Nothing wrong with yoga. But those who actually get helped by yoga do not talk about their doing it. My feeling is that those who get newspaper scribes to come and take pictures and write about it, usually are doing fake yoga. Those are all only distractions that take you away from your tennis focus. That was all I meant.

In that case I should not expect to see him here in Cary a week after as well , knowing him a withdrawal is coming soon

Will Yuki be motivated to try to make yet another comeback when his ranking falls to 400 again?

I somehow doubt it.

Yuki has already copped a lot of criticism for playing US Open. Its probably unfair (in my opinion) to criticize him again for a reverse decision and attending all the preparatory camps that are associated with it.

If he could play the US Open, there is absolutely no logic to his withdrawing from next week's Chicago Challenger. What the hell is he thinking? The next Slam is four months away, why does he need to preserve his body? Vishnu, please ask Stephen Koon, since you've interviewed him -- and Yuki has played just one match since that interview!!

Did he withdraw in order to attend the camp being organized by Hesh in Belgrade?

PKB: I mentioned the same in my previous post. Yuki had signed up for these challengers but we all know that he has been selected for the Davis Cup team. Davis Cup event clashes with Cary challenger and Mahesh's preparation camp in Belgrade means, he can't play in Chicago as well.

He will face a huge huge huge backlash in my opinion if he withdraws from Davis Cup too (after withdrawing from the Asian Games). I just felt our criticism of him withdrawing from these challengers is a bit unfair given the scheduling conflicts he is running into.

To bujilover:
I don't know but its been in the Indian Tennis news for the past 2-3 days and a 1-week camp (as has been called out) means, Yuki has to withdraw after winning a round or two (incase he wins) and take a long flight to Belgrade.

These camps are utterly useless. He should have played in Chicago, and Hesh should have waited for him if he wasn’t knocked out early in Chicago. A long flight to Belgrade is no problem if you are merely going to attend a camp — quite another thing if you are going there to play a tournament.

PKB your argument makes sense but the AITA has their own ideas - frequently the captain has to do the AITA's bidding even if he doesn't agree, and especially if the AITA is paying for it. If Hesh or any of the players rebel against it the situation will spiral out of control.
