Hope Yuki is playing the Davis Cup since he doesn't appear to playing anywhere else in the couple of weeks after. Otherwise, it would suggest an injury of some sort...

So sad just when Yuki was back to his best . I guess now the Uzbek tie will be a meaningless affair

Leander Paes wins Challenger in Mexico, Yuki out of Davis Cup

It had nothing to do with Paes winning the Challenger or Bopanna having the best doubles rank among the Indians, but owing to Yuki Bhambri pulling out with a “knee inflammation”.

It was not a welcome situation, as the 24-year-old Yuki was easily the best player on view, having been exceptionally consistent in the Challenger circuit in China, when he made two semifinals apart from a quarterfinal.

“It is a strain and will keep me out for two to three weeks. Been playing with it in China. Didn’t want to risk anymore since it is too early in the season”, reasoned Yuki, when contacted.

Obviously, Yuki did not want to undergo the medical fitness test scheduled to be taken in Mumbai prior to the players assembling for the tie in Bengaluru, and conceded that he would not have been able to pass it.

Damn, so he played with it in China. I guess something was wrong from late in the second week but thought it was just exhaustion. I just hope it is just 2-3 weeks break as he stated and not months as often happens in his case.

Sorry but Yuki needs to get some additional advice on managing his injuries. Appropriate training (strength and flexibility) as well as managing recovery can minimize his chances of injury. Simply playing a lot without doing the physical work needed will ensure that he has a short career.

Understand that he may have financial limitations but continuing to play on after he had played 8 matches in 2 weeks was a recipe for injury. Most top players who go deep in tournaments typically don't play too many weeks in a row.

Yuki is in the preliminary entry list of Uzbek F2 Futures for that last week of April.

Probably wants to ease his way back by playing futures like he did earlier. He has succeeded in this approach in the past - even recent one where he played and won an Indian futures title before having a very good run at China Challengers. So, hard to argue against that.

Yes, excited if he is actually fit to play. If he is fit, pretty sure he'll play challengers and better soon after since he still has several PRs remaining.

Yeah, he seems to be quite used to adjusting to different levels and just playing tennis. It is not an easy thing for many tennis players, but Yuki has gone through it a few times now and is able to just play whatever level of event he thinks he needs to play at any given time!

Yuki has entered $50K(+H) Challenger in Gimcheon in South Korea in the week of 1st May based on his protected ranking. Probably he will continue up in Korea for 3 weeks and then get to French open qualies or may get to Uzbekistan after a week or two in Korea. Lets us see.

Prajnesh is 5 out of main draw at Gimcheon.
