It should be ok now to play a week immediately after davis cup with new format of best of 3 set matches and matches ending on Saturday. Also our davis cup tie is in China close to Taiwan. So, regardless of whatever happens prior to that I think Yuki ( and other Indian davis cuppers) will go for that big challenger in Taiwan.

I forgot that the new format has been implemented. Its news to me that the tie now ends on Saturday. Keeping these 2 in mind and proximity of the tournament Yuki should play this challenger.

News to me that it ends on Saturday. The recent round of matches that just concluded all finished on a Sunday.

You might be talking about world group matches. They are still played over 3 days in a best of 5 sets format.

All zonal group matches are now played in a best of 3 sets over 2 days.

This was the related news from davis cup site -

NEW FORMAT TO BE TRIALLED FOR 2018 DAVIS CUP

The two-day format in Zone Groups I and II will see two singles matches played on Day 1, and the doubles match followed by the two reverse singles matches on Day 2. This will ensure that all doubles matches remain live.

With few more withdrawals in DXB, Yuki would be definitely seeded for the qualies and Sumeet now is 10 out , if he doesn't make it Mahesh can well push him for a qualies WC.

The seeding for qualies will be based on current rankings. So, Yuki will surely be seeded, at #5 as per current list, 1-2 withdrawals would put him among the top 4 seeds in qualies which would mean he will not have to play anyone ranked higher than him in qualies. There may be some chance too that he will get a wild card for main draw. He had got it earlier, I think for Dubai ATP.

The DXB WC was in 2016 where he lost to Lucas Rosol, point away from a famous win and after that match was a long injury layoff whose reverberating effects are still being felt with the strapping that he dons.
And Sumeet should be favourite for a quali WC if Mahesh manages to pull the right strings.

It does looks Dubai main draw wild cards given away to Marco Baghdatis, Malek Jaziri and Stefano Tsitipas as they have been taken out from qualifying draw and shown as entered the main draw ( and they were a few spots away from main draw).

But with that, Yuki will now likely to be among top 4 seeds in the qualies draw which will come out tonight. Sumit is now 6 out from qualies draw. Hope he gets in or gets a wild card.

Yuki has entered in irving challenger starting 19th march and is in qualifying list (4th out of main draw).
Strong list with most of top 100 entered in this challenger as it is between master tournaments.

So better then playing challenger after Davis cup he is playing it in between masters. Is it the first time team Yuki scheduled better than one suggested here?

Correction, challenger is starting 12th of March, which is in 2nd Week of ATP India Wells.
From 19th March ATP Miami is starting
So it is good idea to play challenger if you have less chance to reach second week as challenger is happening in US itself and winner can take 125 points.

Yuki to face Dodig in Q1 of Dubai ATP, as Sumit plays Kavcic.

Yes, opening a thread for this as some of our players should be there in doubles too.
