Re: Yuki Bhambri
Hope so. We have now 3 others who are playing really well. So no worries there. But we have followed Yuki so long that it's tough to give up. Hope next year is a great year too.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
The Impact Academy has posted photos and videos of Yuki undergoing intense gym training. But most of the other players (Hyeon Chung, Di Wu, etc) are shown practicing aspects of their tennis game. I hope Yuki too is wielding a racket there: no sign of it in the photos/videos.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
As per report in TOI, he is surely skipping Pune open. He will know where he stands by year end ( probably at the time his stint in Bangkok gets over) and will mostly take decision on Australian open qualies at that time.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
Does anyone have any hopes from Yuki at this point?
I think his singles career as a top 100 player is done.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
Doesn't look that way given the effort he is making. But ya this is make or break year for him.Sin Hombre wrote: ↑Fri Dec 28, 2018 4:05 am Does anyone have any hopes from Yuki at this point?

Re: Yuki Bhambri
If he is going to play the AO qualifiers, it is asinine to have skip the Pune Open.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
Haven't we thought this some 3-4 times already? Every time, it seems like he doesn't really make it, but doesn't really break it either, in the end

Re: Yuki Bhambri
A little update about Yuki in the tennisworldusa.org site ... And I heard a rumour (again repeating a rumour), that he had knee surgery and currently rehab is going on, but not sure about this story.
Yuki Bhambri to miss the start of the season due to a knee injury
Yuki Bhambri to miss the start of the season due to a knee injury
Yuki will know more about the state of his knee in 10 days time and he will provide more details about the potential comeback.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
It does not look like he will be playing AO qualies. He does not seem to be back to playing tennis at all in practice. Looks like it will take a couple of months more.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
If he's had surgery, I doubt he can return to the circuit before end-February. He has a lot of points to defend between now and end-April, and almost no points thereafter. So it probably makes sense to take a full 6-month injury break, and try to come back fully thereafter (although that will mean starting from a rock-bottom ranking). Sad, sad career that has been plagued by injuries.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
Nobody knows what's happening with Yuki. Whatever it is, I hope the medical solution works once and for all.
Watched Lucas Pouille play utterly superb tennis in the second set (especially the tiebreak) on the way to a 4-set victory over Raonic which took him to the Australian Open singles semifinal. And, of course, it reminded me of the consummate ease with which Yuki defeated Pouille 64 64 at Indian Wells last year -- at a time when Pouille was at his career-high ranking of 10 (he is now ranked 30!). And of course I was also reminded of how Yuki met Raonic at Queen's Club, and conceded after losing the first 1-6.
Yuki's body has failed to cooperate with his career. We have had brief glimpses of brilliance amid piles and piles of injury and recovery time. It has been a tragic career so far. I hope the doctors are taking really good care to ensure he comes back from this latest injury for a serious career now.
