Re: Yuki Bhambri
Looks like Yuki has got over the little adjustment needed to see this level of tennis, abroad. Jay

Re: Yuki Bhambri
I wouldn't call last week a hiccup. Yuki is playing in the US at the highest junior level for the first time. There is naturally some adjusting to do, and it is creditable that he is already making the necessary adjustments. Just the experience of playing and practising with his age-group peers in the US will be invaluable to Yuki's future.
Good start to this week as well!

Re: Yuki Bhambri
Yuki defeats Dennis Nevolo 6-3, 7-6(3).
Up next is the second seed (and world no. 2) Ricardo Berankis in R-16. Hope for a strong performance from Yuki.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
Really good match up for Yuki against current Junior US Open Champion ... Berankis had terrific 2007, where he reached semis of Junior Australian Open and Wimbledon ... And was quarter-finalist in Junior French Open.
So Berankis looks like (some what) complete player who can perform well on all type of courts ... Good opportunity for Yuki to test his skills and judge his game.
Go Yuki.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
i really enjoy the rare times our players get to play the world's best (i.e. bopanna vs. federer) this is what all us indian fans dream about that one day we will see indians playing the best in the world regularly. hopefully yuki puts up a good show and wins this....why not??? berankis probly has never heard of yuki so hopefully he can go in there and surprise him....come on yuki!!!

Re: Yuki Bhambri
Terrific stuff from 15-year-old Yuki Bhambri to make the PQF in the prestigious Orange Bowl. All the best in the PQF against the US Open junior champion!
He could actually have also played the 16 and under championship, where the top-seed is Bernard Tomic (who played in the Asia/Oceania Closed Championship that Yuki won a double crown in, beating Tomic and partner in the doubles final). Tomic was last year's winner of the 14 and under championship (incidentally, Jimmy Connors and Jim Courier are past runners-up in the 14 and under championship, called the Junior Orange Bowl). IIRC Ramesh Krishnan won the Orange Bowl (and possibly also the 16 and under championship), but I wasn't able to confirm this. (Ramesh did win both the French and Wimbledon junior singles titles in 1979, of course).

Re: Yuki Bhambri
Another nice win for Yuki . The American boy who he beat was 18 year old who had reached at US open juniors after coming thru qualifying . So, it was a tough match.
But next match is as tough as it can get for Yuki at junior level. Berankis seems to be a super player. Apart from his exploits in junior grand slams , he has already won a futures title in Europe & also represented his country in Davis cup.
But, Yuki has nothing to lose . He can just go out there & give his best.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
I expect Yuki to play well and at least win a set.
Based on his recent relative results (compared with Tomic), I think Yuki is a top 20 caliber junior player already -- so this could be a close match (no Federer v. Bopanna this, more like Nadal v. Andy Murray).
